A place where jazz enthusiasts--as well as those unenthused by the genre--can sit back, relax and enjoy the mood.. The Scene
Nestled in an easy-to-miss nook on Houston Street, Zinc Bar ushers guests through plush red velvet curtains to a cramped yet cozy front room that throbs with the band's every beat. Should it be romance you're looking for, the back room is an airy oasis where the music is muted and speaking above a whisper is akin to blasphemy.

The Draw
Patrons span a range of ages--and many of them are regulars, drawn to the rhythms of an eclectic assortment of standard jazz (Mondays, featuring the Zinc House Jazz Band) and Latin and Brazilian jazz (Samba Sundays). Drinks are somewhat pricey, but the place isn't stingy with the liquor, just the elbow room.

Manolo Centeno's View. A place where the musicians and public geto so close that belongs, this place, to the old space where the fathers of the Jazz, played. It is a must for jazz lovers and I choose this club following the recomendation of Pablo Calogero, one the best saxo player of the New York scene. He was right. If you like jazz in NYC you have to go there

the highlight of my nyc trip. I went on a Monday night and it was just crowded enough. Talk about underground this place literally is underground. We got seats and have a great view of the gorgeous Mariani singing Bossa Nova. I went to many bars while in New York and this is the only one that is truly different from bars in L.A. and the only one that I will make a point to go back to.

For Music Lovers. For people who love good music, this is a great place. Of course it's packed and uncomfortable. That's not the point. Great, great, musicians in an intimate and inexpensive environment. Nice acoustics to boot.

NOT WORTH THE MONEY!!!. I was looking for a jazz bar, and visited Zinc. I left with a terrible experience to look back on. The back room where we were seated is cozy, but you are no way exposed to the live entertainment. You pay $5 to get in, and they take your coat, hang it up and then demand $4 for coat check. Drinks are not too bad, although the waitress told me my champagne was $6, then proceeded to charge me $10. My date and I were there 45 minutes, the entertainment was poor, the drinks mediocre, and I felt the staff will try to weasle every penny they can. Don't go.

Overpriced, Overcrowded and Overrated. This is cheap Brazillian enternainment on Saturday nights; the place is too small; can get too crowded too quickly and the back lounge is overly smoked!

I tried a Mojito and a Cosmopolitan just to have the wors deflating experience of my nighlife in years. I think this place should be avoided altogether, at least on Saturday nights.

Cozy Spot. I found this spot to be very cozy and a bit intimate. The night we went the band that played was very good. Also, the service hostess was always available. The downside is the seating is a bit cramped and not all that comfortable, and the drinks are a bit pricey. Overall, it was worth the trip.

One of my favorites in NYC. I've been going here (off and on) for over seven years and love it. Yes, at times you'll get a bartender that thinks to much of him/herself. However, the drinks are usually poured with a heavy hand. You'll pay $8 a drink, but they don't serve them weak. But more importantly ... Actually most importantly is the live music. It's always entertaining and always by musicians of a high level of talent. Best nights are Monday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday. From jazz to Africian to Brazilian, you will not be disappointed. To correct an above review, the owners are the same owners since day one. They're a brother and sister partnership that have maintained a great New York spot.
