Editorial Review for Stussy/HeadPorter – by Alexandra Lynch
The Scene
T-shirts, sweatshirts and caps are this shop's bread and butter, with plenty of color and cotton to go around. But skate rats who want to dress up can also outfit themselves here, with button-down shirts and sober-looking jackets. Some of the cotton fabrics are so thick they make the clothes seem like they'd stand up without a hanger--how many washes (or skateboard wipeouts) before they limber up?
The Goods
Head Porter, a bag company "straight out of Tokyo" as one clerk put it, uses the upstairs space to sell its techno-style bags, key chains and more. The fabric is mostly a quilted nylon, in colors ranging from light olive and orange to black. Very trendy indeed. Of particular interest to the Stussy posse will be the Patagonia-esque butt-pack which makes for hands-free, well, anything.
