“Fragments is a great store for anyone who loves jewelry.”
“Beautiful Jewelry - Horrible "service”
“am a jewelry fanatic & will not blink to spend if the price is right and the service is decent.”
Beautiful Jewelry - Horrible "service". Fragments was the store I anticipated going to the most during my first trip to New York. I am a jewelry fanatic & will not blink to spend if the price is right and the service is decent. There were literally 7 of us in the store - 4 customers and 3 salespeople. 2 of the customers were being helped by a man and woman when my sister and I entered the SoHo store last week Tuesday; that left one salesman to "help" us. He was in the front behind the counter when we entered the store. He saw us come in because I made eye contact with him and gave him a smile. No "hello", no smile, no grunt or discernable noise came from him at all. My sister and I proceeded to look up and down for a necklace that I saw on their website that I wanted to try on before buying. He eventually wandered down the end of the store to where we were, leaned against a counter and stared at us. When I thought that he was going to actually offer us some service, he caught my eye and fled back to the front of the store! We had been there for 10 minutes at this point and my patience was definitely wearing thin. The woman who was helping the 2 other customers in the store finally said, "ladies, do you need some assistance?" So I looked at her and said, "Yes, that would be nice" at which point she hollered to that guy to come and help us. He tried to give an excuse, "Oh, I thought you were on the phone" which was more for the benefit of his co-worker than to us. When I told him about the necklace on their website, he dismissively said, "well if it's on the website then we don't have it in the store - we only carry 'fine' jewelry here." A fact that is not explicitly evident on the website. Also, his attitude and tone when he said this was just plain snotty. Call me stupid, but I prefer to be treated with some semblance of human decency when I walk into a store prepared to exchange my hard-earned money for goods. It only takes one bad apple to spoil the bunch. Big mistake, Fragments, Big mistake.
Jewelry fanatics worship at this shrine to all that glimmers.. Fragments is inviting and chic, which can make you forget that some of the items have price tags in the six-digit range. A huge Baccarat chandelier illuminates the back room while black-and-white fashion photographs by Francesco Scavullo line the walls in the front. The staff is friendly, helpful and full of information. Fine jewelry doesn't have to be staid and the store makes this clear. Look for innovative designers. Fancy bohemian gals rely on Fragments for beautiful, hand-beaded bracelets and earrings by the Hui Chol Indian tribe from Mexico.
A gem of a store. If you like jewelry, then plan on shopping at this store. It has so many designers and selection that you can spend hours just deciding what to try on. It is more streamlined and the display for handbags are much more appealing. I consider the range of prices at this store to be quite good. You can find things under $100 or, you can spend thousands. The service is one of the best things about Fragments. I've always enjoyed the female salespersons. They are always patient and will assist you for an hour so that you can decide what you like. The only complaint I have is that I wish the merchandise could be a bit more affordable. I guess if you had to choose, you can always check out Barney's great selection of jewelry too, but don't expect their prices to be cheap either.
My New Favorite Store!!!. I went into the store after I saw a pair of earrings in Instyle, and WOW!!! I was blown away by all of the unique things they have. I wanted it all!
