What People Are Saying About Bliss Soho

This 11,000-square-foot brainchild of master facialist Marcia Kilgore probably comes close to most people's utopian vision of a spa. After passing the sign reading, "This Way to Bliss," and opening a blue porthole door, enter a product-laden reception area boasting the first of many celestial trompe l'oeil ceilings; here the receptionists-gatekeepers are busy, yet personable and professional. Move on to the well-stocked locker room, change into a robe and settle into the comfy lounge area for some fruit, sweets and wine while awaiting your therapist. The menu is an impressive mix of classic…

Bliss is one of few NY salons to offer Minx manicures, involving the application of an adhesive polymer rather than typical polish.
ambiance
100.0% positive
  1. The pre-treatment atmosphere is great (white wine, brownies, cookies, hot chocolate, fruit), but they never have openings and I don't have time to wait on the phone for an appointment.
  2. Oasis is nice and has a much more serene atmosphere and a nicer staff.
  3. Its relaxing, the music is always nice and calm, the people and atmosphere is always friendly and nice.
  4. Overall, good place for a small group and/or if having more than one treatment due to atmosphere.
  5. Bliss Soho's lounge area is fabulous - large, quiet, comfortable - great for a spa day or a couple treatments.
  6. If they ever mess up they always give u something complimentary but ive been going for 2 years now and they only messed up once by making me wait 15 extra minutes, The waiting room is comfortable where u can drink tea, i always get peppermint tea with hon

  1. definitely recommend checking out some of the other great spas around the area with great service, interesting spa menus, and lower prices.
  2. The facial is great, but in Manhattan- you have hundreds of options for great facials.

  1. think it's a great place to go if you know of a specific staff member to request or if you're a regular client.
  2. The great thing about this place is that one can get a good SHOWER after the massage.
  3. Overall, good place for a small group and/or if having more than one treatment due to atmosphere.
  4. It's definitely a nice place to go for facials and massages but save your money on the mani/pedi's.

  1. The noise level inside the treatment rooms from the staff & guest is very annoying.
  2. reception staff is rude & estheticians are mediocre who are always trying to upgrade and push products.
  3. Massages can be great - there rest of the service is not as great
  4. Staff was very friendly, was in and out of there within 40 minutes.
  5. The people who work at the spa are nice enough, but do not stand out.
  6. It's NYC and there are a million great spas that are more creative, have reasonable pricing, and nice service, if not better.
  7. had the worst Brazilian bikini wax of my life there - not only was the staff member who performed my service rude, but she did an awful job and even yelled at me for wincing in pain when she yanked the wax off in huge strips (I've NEVER had such a painf
  8. was a little hesitant because I had read many poor reviews about the rude staff.
  9. have a favorite technician for each service.
  10. feel the recent price increases for their services puts a bit higher expectation on the service and anyone walking in without a favorite technician will probably be disappointed.
  11. have to say that all the people I encountered were very nice and polite, so I'm glad I didn?
  12. The aesthetician was remotely friendly.
  13. Oasis is nice and has a much more serene atmosphere and a nicer staff.
  14. definitely recommend checking out some of the other great spas around the area with great service, interesting spa menus, and lower prices.
  15. From the friendly and helpful staff, to cushy lounge and my awesome massage therapist.

  17. Its relaxing, the music is always nice and calm, the people and atmosphere is always friendly and nice.
  18. The front desk people are always great.
  19. BLISS SOHO is a terrible SPA with awful customer service

  1. feel the recent price increases for their services puts a bit higher expectation on the service and anyone walking in without a favorite technician will probably be disappointed.
  2. wish their prices were a bit more affordable but otherwise this place is consistently good.
  3. Maria on the other hand was awful - kind of the frustrating experience that you get in Chinatown with Soho prices.
  4. In addition don't like a condescending attitude for not wanting to increase my facial to the next tier above at $75 extra dollars.
  5. It's NYC and there are a million great spas that are more creative, have reasonable pricing, and nice service, if not better.
  6. Without offering you water, especially if you have a less expensive treatment.
  7. had the worst Brazilian bikini wax of my life there - not only was the staff member who performed my service rude, but she did an awful job and even yelled at me for wincing in pain when she yanked the wax off in huge strips (I've NEVER had such a painf
  8. That is $150, same as the blissage price, but instead you get a body scrub, vichy shower, a body length jacuzzi experience, an AMAZING waterfall treatment, and an amazing massage in a room where the walls slowly change colors.
  9. There are many amazing spa services just like this all over manhattan and brooklyn that are fantastic and 1/2 the price.
  10. Once I moved out of New York I realized that the facials you get at bliss are good, but you do not nearly get your money's worth.
  11. knew that this place would be expensive.
  12. would defin go back again, even though yes it is a bit pricey but I can say that i am a happy customer!
  13. The entire experience made for a great birthday treat, and I emerged with immaculately groomed hands and feet as well as super smooth skin, but the prohibitively high prices mean I won't be returning as often as I'd like.
  14. definitely recommend checking out some of the other great spas around the area with great service, interesting spa menus, and lower prices.
  15. As far as price, I think it is pretty standard for NYC [$100 for a facial
  16. hope bliss change this and really make these therapist STOP badgering the clients into more expensive facials.
  17. With the new price increases I just don't think this is such a great option anymore
  18. they will always recommend an extra mask ($25) or a peel or a microdermabraison add-on and the costs of these additional services can make a reasonably prices facial cost north of $200, before gratuity.
  19. It's definitely a nice place to go for facials and massages but save your money on the mani/pedi's.
  20. Although the mani/pedis were great, they were ridiculously overpriced.
wait time

  1. Staff was very friendly, was in and out of there within 40 minutes.
  2. But on my most recent visit (which I booked a last minute massage and had to take whoever was available) my 75 min Blissage was not great at all (music so loud in the rooms I had to ask her to turn it down) and the massage therapist spent half the time ju

  4. I've never been to Bliss before so I decided to start myself out slow by only getting my brows waxed.
  5. booked, received and thoroghly enjoyed the Triple Oxygen Facial ($150 for 85 mins)

Awful Customer Service for Gift Card

by a1a1

I ordered a virtual gift card for my friend on Sunday, and I was told that it would go out within thirty minutes. Two days later it hadn't gone out, and when I called a manager are customer service, I was told that there is nothing they can do, but they will resend it. Two days later, it still hadn't arrived. I called them again and they sent it to me instead of the e-mail of the friend that I had provided. They were not apologetic. If anything, they were rude. The customer service is horrible.

love this bliss spa!

by lcm2012

I have been to Bliss soho many times and I love this location. It is bliss's 1st location and it feels like home everytime I walk in!

I've gotten mani/pedis, facials and a cellulite treatment here - all which were wonderful. For the cellulite treatment, I had the tech Knovy. This treatment is very intense and involves dry brushing, scrubbing, a mask and cream application. Knovy took care of me and made sure I was comfortable even though the treatment involved moving around a lot on the table. The treatment itself was super ... it left me feeling energyzed and, most importantly, slimmer! My jeans were noticeably easier to put on after the treatment from all the circulation.

I will certainly be coming back to bliss soho for treatments in the future, and have already recommended the fatgirlslim treatment to several of my friends who were heading away on vacation!

Great For a Massage...But Stay Away From The Facials

by ChelseaNYC

I have been experiencing some breakouts recently so I booked the “no zit Sherlock” facial at the SoHo location. I have been to the spa before and have usually enjoyed my services, however as a result of the facial I was left with severe red inflamed spots covering both sides of my face from temple to cheek from the extractions. My facialist said that I would experience slight redness that would be gone in a few hours. It was not only still extremely swollen 5 hours later, but I could not even leave the house for the night because of the open red spots on my face that I was scared to cover up with make-up. The spots are so severe that I had to go to the dermatologist who prescribed a cream to help break up the dark spots that are now covering my face and require an extensive amount of makeup to cover up. I will definitely NOT be returning for this service.I have been experiencing some breakouts recently so I booked the “no zit Sherlock” facial at the SoHo location. He-Wax = AWESOME

by christoinferno

I'll be very up-front about this: My only complaint about the he-wax at Bliss Soho was (is) the price.

I went to Marina for full hair removal. It wasn't my first wax of the undercarriage, but it was the best. Least painful, no ingrowns after. I can't say "Marina is the best waxer at Bliss," because I've been to Bliss all of 1 time and was randomly assigned to her. But I'll request her next time I go.

I didn't fully appreciate how good an experience it was until I went to another spa today (Confidence) because they had a special. If you enjoy bleeding from your scrotum, by all means go there.

I should note that after my awful, ball-tearing experience at Confidence today, I did a lot of internet research on men's waxes in the city & their prices. Bliss's $120 for the full monty still seems ridiculously high, but it's apparently in line with other places (Strip, Maksim, Completely Bare). I'm curious about Dyanna, because they list their men's brazilian wax at $85. But that might just include only the crack, not the cheeks, and it may exclude other areas as well. I've emailed them to ask.

In the meantime, if anyone has any good tips, don't be shy.

UPDATE: I heard back from Dyanna, and sure enough it's $20 extra to do the cheeks. That brings the total up to $105, similar to the other spas I've checked out.

Great Place For A Wax!!

by Michelle Lopez 832

After a few bad experiences, suffering, and lots of pain I ran away from Brazilian waxes. I convinced myself that I would never find a place that made me happy and I would just have to deal with it. After explaining to a friend why I refused this treatment she laughed and told me to try Bliss. I thought about it for a few weeks but a trip to Miami forced me to conquer my fears and call up Bliss. The experience was great. I was greeted with smiles and told to take a deep breath and that everything will be all right. I know I am being a little dramatic but trust me previous experiences have been horrible. Although not pain free it was definitely less painful and I have returned twice since then.

Thank you Bliss for the great experience and service.
