I am writing this review under a different account because of what happened to me at Bliss Soho. The long and short of it -- STAY AWAY. I went in for a Blissage 105 massage on Sunday, February 17th. I had a male masseuse, Carl, who touched me inappropriately. He undraped my chest and massaged my breasts (not just my pectorals) and massaged my pubic area (way passed my bikini line). I told him that I was not okay with what he was doing, and I immediately reported it to the manager on duty, Rachel, who assured me that she would report the incident and it would be investigated. I emailed Rachel the following Tuesday to find out what was going on and she told me that Bliss's corporate risk management department would be in touch. I have tried emailing her again, and have not received a response. Over a week has passed since the incident, and no one from Bliss's corporate office has reached out to me. I am livid at what happened, and even more livid at how they have handled it. Women, beware: Bliss doesn't care if their masseuses break every rule about what a proper massage is supposed to be. Avoid this place at all costs.
Awful Customer Service for Gift Card. I ordered a virtual gift card for my friend on Sunday, and I was told that it would go out within thirty minutes. Two days later it hadn't gone out, and when I called a manager are customer service, I was told that there is nothing they can do, but they will resend it. Two days later, it still hadn't arrived. I called them again and they sent it to me instead of the e-mail of the friend that I had provided. They were not apologetic. If anything, they were rude. The customer service is horrible.
love this bliss spa!.
I have been to Bliss soho many times and I love this location. It is bliss's 1st location and it feels like home everytime I walk in!
I've gotten mani/pedis, facials and a cellulite treatment here - all which were wonderful. For the cellulite treatment, I had the tech Knovy. This treatment is very intense and involves dry brushing, scrubbing, a mask and cream application. Knovy took care of me and made sure I was comfortable even though the treatment involved moving around a lot on the table. The treatment itself was super ... it left me feeling energyzed and, most importantly, slimmer! My jeans were noticeably easier to put on after the treatment from all the circulation.
I will certainly be coming back to bliss soho for treatments in the future, and have already recommended the fatgirlslim treatment to several of my friends who were heading away on vacation!
Great For a Massage...But Stay Away From The Facials. I have been experiencing some breakouts recently so I booked the “no zit Sherlock” facial at the SoHo location. I have been to the spa before and have usually enjoyed my services, however as a result of the facial I was left with severe red inflamed spots covering both sides of my face from temple to cheek from the extractions. My facialist said that I would experience slight redness that would be gone in a few hours. It was not only still extremely swollen 5 hours later, but I could not even leave the house for the night because of the open red spots on my face that I was scared to cover up with make-up. The spots are so severe that I had to go to the dermatologist who prescribed a cream to help break up the dark spots that are now covering my face and require an extensive amount of makeup to cover up. I will definitely NOT be returning for this service.I have been experiencing some breakouts recently so I booked the “no zit Sherlock” facial at the SoHo location. He-Wax = AWESOME.
I'll be very up-front about this: My only complaint about the he-wax at Bliss Soho was (is) the price.
I went to Marina for full hair removal. It wasn't my first wax of the undercarriage, but it was the best. Least painful, no ingrowns after. I can't say "Marina is the best waxer at Bliss," because I've been to Bliss all of 1 time and was randomly assigned to her. But I'll request her next time I go.
I didn't fully appreciate how good an experience it was until I went to another spa today (Confidence) because they had a special. If you enjoy bleeding from your scrotum, by all means go there.
I should note that after my awful, ball-tearing experience at Confidence today, I did a lot of internet research on men's waxes in the city & their prices. Bliss's $120 for the full monty still seems ridiculously high, but it's apparently in line with other places (Strip, Maksim, Completely Bare). I'm curious about Dyanna, because they list their men's brazilian wax at $85. But that might just include only the crack, not the cheeks, and it may exclude other areas as well. I've emailed them to ask.
In the meantime, if anyone has any good tips, don't be shy.
UPDATE: I heard back from Dyanna, and sure enough it's $20 extra to do the cheeks. That brings the total up to $105, similar to the other spas I've checked out.
Great Place For A Wax!!.
After a few bad experiences, suffering, and lots of pain I ran away from Brazilian waxes. I convinced myself that I would never find a place that made me happy and I would just have to deal with it. After explaining to a friend why I refused this treatment she laughed and told me to try Bliss. I thought about it for a few weeks but a trip to Miami forced me to conquer my fears and call up Bliss. The experience was great. I was greeted with smiles and told to take a deep breath and that everything will be all right. I know I am being a little dramatic but trust me previous experiences have been horrible. Although not pain free it was definitely less painful and I have returned twice since then.
Thank you Bliss for the great experience and service.
Fabulous Facial. I had a Bliss gift certificate for long time. Finally I decided to use it. I requested Tomoko because I've heard only good thing about her facial from my friends. I was skeptical at first as Bliss did not have good reviews. I have tried many different Estheticians and I must say that Tomoko is by far the best. She was very gentle and deep, her hand technique was esquisite and she was very knowledgeable and professional. I enjoyed her facial very much. I highly recommend her! My face looked radiant and felt wonderful.
bliss so so. i received a facial from bliss soho. the facial service itself, the environment--deco,lights, noise....made me not want to come back......it should be called like other reviewer said--bliss so so...
what's the hype?.
After all the fame about Bliss, I finally went in one Friday afternoon for their famous Triple oxygen facial.
The spa is located at the second floor. Very mediocre decor, just like any skincare sales store. The locker room was tiny and the lounge area was packed. Nothing worth mentioning about their renowned brownie bar.
My technician was late for picking me up about 10 minutes. The treatment room was nothing luxurious. There was a paper sheet on the massage chair. Paper sheet? Can you believe that? The lady seemed to have a long day. She was very gentle on the massage although I asked her to put on more pressure. However the touches she laid on my face was not too gentle. It felt rather carelessly. The highlight probably is the oxygen breeze at the end.
The spa was very busy and it felt like they were just rushing through every customer so they could get to the next one. The setting is not luxurious nor calming.
I have experienced much better treatment with half of the price tag with spa-like environment and attentive techniques. For what they charge, I expect much higher.
Eh-ish.
We came here because RJ had a gift certificate, and AD & I were all too happy to jump on the Massage-and-Liquid-Lunch-Summer-Friday bandwagon because we're suckers like that.
The space felt rather cramped, but considering the location, that's kind of to be expected.
The price was okay, I guess -- sort of middle of the road for Manhattan day spas. And the massage was decent -- not great, not awful. (I did have to resist the urge to hand my massage therapist a tissue on more than one occasion -- post-nasal drip is no fun for anyone. The bathrooms are serviceable -- again, not great, not awful. For example, the pump on the bottle of Body Butter was broken, but weighing this in light of, say, the cholera epidemic in Haiti, I think a broken lotion dispenser is something the average human can cope with...
All in all, not bad. But not great. I recommend Great Jones instead.
