Bliss – I have no idea what everyone else is talking about. It's either you were probably having a bad day or just demanded too much for the service.
I've always wanted to get a facial from Bliss. Timing was everything and when I finally had the chance to get one, I was very pleased with the service.
The facial I had was refreshing, comfortable and over all.. very satisfactory. It lasted 1 hour and 30 min and the facialist was nice and accommodating. I did not feel uneasy with the whole experience. Everything went very smoothly and she did recommend products after the facial BUT only after I was checking out. It was in the product recommendation and it was just a suggestion, I didn't feel pushed to buy any of them.
After my first facial with Bliss, I look forward to seeing them again on a monthly basis. The front desk was very hospitable and I felt very welcomed in my stay.
Don't make the facialist a sales rep – My facial was a birthday gift card treat. The facilities were fine and the facial was professional and relaxing except for the product pushing. I think they should just not talk about the products until the end and even then, just mention them briefly. Also, a lot of the things they use on people are not avail in trial sizes. If they are really interested in converts, they should create a bag with small sizes for a low price so people can try them at home before committing. I can afford the larger sizes, I'm just not going to shell out for something that is not proven to be worth it to me. And five minutes after my facial is not enough time to prove it.
BLISS SOHO is a terrible SPA with awful customer service – I made an appointment for a $150 massage, paid for the massage, showed up 20 min early, was placed in lounge for 25 min after my scheduled time to be told by the massage therapist that since I was 12 wks pregnant, because of medicolegal reasons, they could not do the massage. They were rude, unapologetic, and kept insuating that it is stated in their website. Well, I went back and looked over their website and NOWHERE in the website does it specify that they will not perform massages on women in their first trimester of pregnancy. IN fact, like most spas they have services for pregnant women. I had gotten a massage from a much higher end spa the week before where i was treated respectfully and KINDLY specially because i was pregnant and it was clear that they appreciated my business. I understand it is their policy, but what was disturbing was how RUDE the staff including the manager was. They could have been a lot nicer and made the event less uncomfortable and humiliating for me. I walked out feeling humiliated and mistreated.
Not so great – Although my treatment of a facial was okay, I totally agree with other posts about the pushing of extra treatments when getting facials. I was also disappointed with the whole set up from the broken saunas, clogged shower drains and only 1 hair dryer. Maybe updown locations are better. I wouldn't recommend this place.
Nice Variety of Services – Excellent go-to spa for services like body wraps, facials, etc. I wish their prices were a bit more affordable but otherwise this place is consistently good.
Massages can be great - there rest of the service is not as great – Massages can be great here, it use not to be the case. And it is not always guarrantee, It depends who you get. Knovy is great and so is Bob. Maria on the other hand was awful - kind of the frustrating experience that you get in Chinatown with Soho prices.
The great thing about this place is that one can get a good SHOWER after the massage. If you want to have a good experience you have to go to a place like this where you can shower off the creams or oils or else it is just pointless. On the negative side is that their sauna has not work for a while. I dare to say : 2 years or more.
The management seems to care. A while ago it was very loud. YOu could hear everyone talking in the waiting area - specially the parties that come as a group - Nothing worst than getting a massage while women are chit chatting and laughing like hyenas - specially when one has to pay close to $200. Anyways, I complained ( I am sure other did too ) and several months later they built a door to close off the noise away from the massage rooms.
Facials and pedicure and manicaure - are a whole other sector, I used to go once in a while with my friend as a treat. Usually they push to much products. And really it really is annoying to be spending all this money ( and TIME ) to have people tell you how dry your skin is over and over again. Hell - that is why I am here no ? and who does not have dry skin in the winter. I find it disrepectful the whole experience. So now I won't go for facial or ped / man
I mostly go for the massage and I usually see only the people I like and trust for massage.
The front desk people are always great. Even if they are new, Within a short time if they stay they are mostly all very nice.
Did I say how much I like to be able to SHOWER after a massage ? and at Bliss you can do it and the SHOWER rocks !
Still great after all these years! – I love going to Bliss Soho for a facial and massage. I see it as "my little escape" from the hectic ny life. Once inside, you wouldn't imagine you're in the middle of the bustling streets of soho. It's quiet, nice music in the background and they don't allow cell phone use while in the lounge (thank goodness!) Services are amazing. Many of the employees have been there for years. That says a lot about a company. I know that when I go to Bliss I will leave totally Blissful, Blissed-out or whatever term is used to describe this great experience.
Very hard sales pitch from facialist – I do love going to bliss for treatments. I've been there multiple times for facials and massages.
I find the waiting area to be very relaxing as it is roomy and comfortable with snacks and teas for you to enjoy. Here is my problem. Every facial I've had there was a torture because of the very high sales pitch from facialist. I'm beginning to think it's their company policy telling facialist to do this. I'm not a novice and get facials regularly at many different spas. Yes, some of these spas do recommend what they think you should have done. But no one comes close to people at Bliss. Every time and I mean every time! I had a basic facial, they start out by trying to convince me to add more stuff. I mean it's my money but they'll say I recommend for you such and such treatment, it's only $25 dollars more. Or I think you should the oxygen facial (which is nearly twice as expensive as basic that I just want to have done) Some facialist actually get a mild attitude when I say I'll just have what I made an appointment for and nothing extra. I actually had facilaist get sully like I'm doing something wrong because I refused additional fee treatment. I hope bliss change this and really make these therapist STOP badgering the clients into more expensive facials.
For once I would like to go to bliss for facial and have a relaxing facial without trying to protect my wallet.
Expensive, rude, and noisy – I received a facial and massage at Bliss Soho. This place has a nightclub atmosphere. The lighting is bright and flashy. The reception area is like the waiting area in front of a club behind the velvet ropes waiting to go in. The noise level inside the treatment rooms from the staff & guest is very annoying. So far not so good. I was on time, but the therapists were running late, so instead of receiving the full treatment, time was deducted (like I would not check my watch and notice.) The final nail in the coffin is the hard sell of products waiting for you when you try to check out. If you say no, they look at you like you are not worthy of their services and should not come back to Bliss ... Well guess what ? I am staying away from Bliss forever !!!
cleared my face – I knew that this place would be expensive. But I wanted to treat myself and I did. I must say the service and the facial that I got was terrific. But the price!! Next time I think will be in about 6 months before I can do something like this again. Overall the epxeirence was a good one and I paid for it, really paid for it.
