Recommend for vacation-prep tanning. My wife has been a client at Portofino for years, and after burning like a lobster on my last vacation she convinced me to go a few times to prep my skin. I don't know anything about tanning, but the staff always suggests the best lotion and bed for my fair, easy-to-burn skin. Not only are they so knowledgeable about tanning, but they are genuinely friendly. Once again, my wife was right--Portofino gets my highest recommendation.

teeth whitening new plus. I frequent this tanning place for a quick tan every now and then. Last week I read they had a teeth whitening summer special deal thing, so I decided to try it out. My expectations were admittedly pretty low, but I was surprised by the results. My teeth didn't hurt like other teeth whitening attempts before AND i walked out about 5 shades lighter. I opted to go the full 60 minutes. The only downside--I must have looked like an idiot. I know I was drooling. As long as nobody saw me--I's give it the two thumbs up.

faux tanning rocks my socks. My agent initially turned me on to these airbrushes. I needed immediate tan skin for a shoot and he set me up here. I have been coming regularly ever since. I strip down, throw on their disposable underwear and Jessica or Sylvia (i'm a fan of both) spray me with their gun of a thousand suns. seriously-i am a tan goddess when i prance outta there 20 mins later. The only thing that sux is you can only make appts when the technician is in (nothing super early or late) and then have to wait to shower afterward. It's worth it though-I am hooked and a big advocate.

amazing tanning lotions!. I have never seen so many gorgeous bottles of tanning lotion at one place. i know i know--"gorgeous tanning lotion" sounds ridiculous, but believe me--it is pretty impressive. My friend tans at Portofino all the time and suggested that I get a few bottles of their accelerators to take back to Miami with me. I am seriously obsessed. i go back and forth between Austrailian Gold CRYSTALS and Cal Tan's Cypher. I basically went in, asked the girl for the best lotion to get me the tannest. She asked questions about my skin, my intended beach use and paired me up with some great stuff. I'll be honest, I haven't used their beds, just came in for the lotions, but the girl at the desk seemed to really know her stuff. I would recommend their tanning lotions to anyone that is dedicated to being tan like me!

spray tanning is best. I don't tan. I just cannot do the real sun with my skin, so I get the fake stuff by way of airbrush. I would recommend Portofino to anyone. With the package I end up paying less than $40 for a custom, hand-sprayed airbush. I hate the 6 hour waiting period after the spray, but that is the way of the fake tan. Portofino's spray tanning room is clean, the girl who spray tans me is gorgeous and chill and the best part--I look like I have been at the beach when i've really been stuck in my office. the only downside--they don't do at home spray tans...wouldn't THAT be convenient?!

Great Student Deals. i tried this place after a friend recommended it. I can't afford paying $35 each time I tan so I asked the girl at the desk for a suggestion. i said, "I am poor, i'm a student, and I love you guys- any help getting a special?" She hooked me up with 10 sessions for under $80. (of course then I made up for the $$ saved on tans to buy the BEST bottle of lotion ;o) ANYWAY, the people are fun, the beds are strong and clean and I best part-I am tan without weekending in the Hamptons.

New Bed is unreal!!!. Portofino in Soho is just the best place to tan in NYC. I'm from LA, our tanning is great, but Portofino Sun Center in Soho might just be better. They got this new Matrix machine that left me sooo dark and didn't even get hot or uncomfortable. I love this place!!!!

teeth whitening and tanning combo. I fake and bake every now and then and Portofino is my place. I've been coming here for years and the gals know my name and always have my tanning lotion ready to go. I've been using the 30 minute beach bed and it seems to be the trick for a good deep natural looking tan. Being the queen that I am, I HAD to try their teeth whitening while I was there. To be honest, I was skeptical. $150 seems a little too cheap for it to work. Not true. I now have pearly white whites and a dark tan. I'll stay loyal to this tanning salon as long as I live (in NYC). ;-)

Helpful staff!. When I work all week long, planning marketing strategies for my company, the last thing I want to do is be responsible for planning a strategy for my leisure time. I do not, do NOT, want to have to use a lot of brainpower planning my TANNING :) Thankfully, the staff at portofino does that for me. Thanks guys! I'm very tan, thanks to you!

Jessica and Sylvia-the technicians. I have been going to Jessica and Silvia for forever. they are my favorite spray tanners in the city. Both are sweethearts, very professional and most importantly-know how to give a great faux tan. I buy a pack of 5 or 10 sprays and treat myself every now and then. Sometimes I am in the mood to look darker and sometimes I just want a little glow. I just tell them how dark I want to be and they accomodate. I have a feeling I will be there all the time this summer for all of the weddings I have. I mean, if I had the money and time I would do it every week. Love it! Just be ready to not shower for a while after they do it.
