Faux Meat Mecca

I found this place through a google search after Whole Foods stopped carrying my Vegetarian Citrus Ribs. I was paying $7.00 at WF for the exact same item I found at May-Wah for $3.50! Ridiculously low prices and lots of options; we walked out with an entire shopping bag filled with frozen faux meat for just about $40. I do have to say that the instructions on the packaging are off - perhaps a translation issue - but if you've cooked with these products before, you shouldn't have a problem. The sales people are also really helpful with advice and tips. Besides, I don't really mind experimenting if I'm only out a $3.50 investment.

May-Wah also sells Asian sauces and oils that you may need. Though not priced as low as their frozen foods selection, still reasonable and convenient if you just want to go to one location in China Town (I get lost ALL the time when I'm there, so it's a good option for me).

A great grocery store

This is where many of the veggie restaurants in the city buy their fake meat. Here you'll find those famous drumsticks and jumbo "shrimp" they serve at Red Bamboo. They sell retail and wholesale and have an extensive "menu," as well as a website allowing home delivery, though the store itself it very easy to get to, and allows you to avoid Chinatown proper. I was very excited to find this place, as it enabled me to impress everyone at my last party with my restaurant-quality vegan appetizers.
