Food great .. service is awful. If the kitchen staff knew how poorly the wait staff treats their customers, I would think they would be quite embarassed. The food quality is consistently good, for the most part. However the wait staff doesn't seem to be at all involved in that, as it appears to me that the kitchen staff are the ones that actually bring you the food. The wait staff seems aloof to it all, as if that they don't want to get their hands dirty.. strange in a restaurant famous for home cooking. I guess the image they are trying to project is something more "artsy-fartsy", as they are in Tribeca, after all. The attention to detail in the dishes themselves is artsy enough... Sourdough pancakes each almost an inch thick, GREAT huevo rancheros, incredible sausages, even great coffee, to give a few examples from breakfast... but I shouldn't have to ask twice for a second cup of coffee at breakfast, nor should I feel obliged to accept an inferior table because I am alone..especially if there are plenty of seats available.

Never Again!!. I ate their on a trip to NYC. I, later, read an article on who the head chef was. Curtis Brown use to be a singer of one of the craziest rock bands out (not a good crazy). I saw him once play with his self and then wipe a guys head in the front row, then poured a beer on his head! He followed this up by trying to start a fight with everyone in the front row. He also cooked at this joint in Los Angeles and smoked weed in the back and was very rude to customers. I am disgusted that I ate food that his hands touched! And, by the way, it was way over priced for the type of food it is.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR HARD-EARNED MONEY!!. How can a restaurant name Bubby's (Jewish term for grandmother) have it's menu literally packed with bacon and pork products?? Poor Bubby is spinning in her grave. Even the over-rated freeking biscuits have bacon fat in them, for christ's sake!

It looks as if they got a chef or management that thought, wow, lets make the menu southern comfort food... and then got a cook who is from Jersey to cook it. My friend this stuff is simply awful! My husband had the meatloaf with collard greens. He said the food was so greasy he could not eat it. I ordered fried chicken, green beans and mac/cheese (only veggies that did not contain bacon or pork fat.). If you guys wanna go southern, then at least learn to make the dishes. This was AWFUL! No one is the south puts bacon or pork fat in their dishes any more; it just ain't healthy to do anymore. The chicken was favourless and a greasy mess. No herbs, no spice... just greasy crunch... and EXTREMELY salty. They brag about brining (really called Koshering) the chicken; guess they don't do a second soaking in water, as you should before preparing to remove excess salt.

The atmosphere is so loud we could not have a conversation without shouting across the table. The beer was warm, so was the water they brought on a 95 degree day. When I asked for ice, they offered to get me a iced lemonade at 5 bucks (!!) a glass.

I know they have a captive audience down there in Tribeca. But I gotta tell you this place sucks so badly, I'd walk blocks in the 95 degree heat (or freezing cold) to find something else.

SMART restaurateurs, heed this and put up a good family restaurant in this area. You'll make a mint and Bubby's will be gone in a flash. No competition is their only edge... it sure isn't the food.

A New York Institution. I have been brunching a Bubby's since it opened in 90'. The food is great. Both the atmosphere and the eats are consistent, cozy, comfortable. Brunch has become a bit of a scene and it can get a little crazy sometimes. There is always a line-up and tons of tourists and New York transplants. If you can stand being trampled at the bar by a loud family of six from Kansas - or getting bumped for Natalie Portman and friend - after you waited an hour for a table, then you're in for a treat. Once you are (finally) seated, you will be treated to attentive service and some of the best brunch selections in the city.

It's Over For Me--No More Chances. Over the years, I have developed a typical abused spouse syndrome towards this wretched brunch place. Every time I go there and get mistreated, I leave angry, swearing never to go back. Two weeks later, I hopelessly trudge back there for another take, and again, I storm out fuming and swearing it was the last time. Well, this time I have really, really had it. No more for me. I do not even know where to begin. The worst service you can imagine magnified by ten. Last time I went there on a Saturday morning, when the place was nearly empty. My husband and I were placed in the farthest corner of the restaurant, practically INSIDE the little side room for the dirty dishes, squeezed between a constantly swinging door and a wall. 35 weeks pregnant and rather huge, I asked the host if we could have a different, more comfortable table. His response? Well you know, we try to distribute the tables more evenly. The cups are habitually dirty. Getting bottled water is an impossible task. If you lose your knife, you better learn to cut with your teeth, because you ain't getting a new one. The home-fried potatoes are so overfried and burned, I think they recycle the ones from three weeks ago. My last dish there had two thick hairs on the bottom. The waitress didn't even offer to have it replaced. The bathrooms are a health violation. Yes, they occasionally have spectacular reuben sandwiches and good bacon, but really, really, I have HAD it.

Great Brunch Spot!!. I had been wanting to go to Bubby's for brunch for some time and am so glad I finally made it! The place was packed but our group of 6 was seated within 15 minutes. The food was delicious and the portions were huge! The mimosa had fresh squeezed orange juice and the bloody mary was spicy and seasoned perfectly. The sour cream pancakes were out of this world and I would highly recommend the cheese grits as a side. Will definitely be back again soon!

Big Breakfast!. We went to Bubby's for the first time, read lots of great reviews on it and always wanted to try it. The food was good, not great, but pretty good. The place was packed, we sat inside because the outside tables were taken and it was hot and humid inside, they need better ventilation. As a typical NY spot, they also pack you in there like sardines, you can't back your chair up w/o hitting the person at the table behind you!

Our breakfast was good, nice big portions, but a little overpriced if you ask me. I mean c'mon, it's only breakfast. The huevos rancheros was avg, not the best I've ever had. The fresh squeezed OJ was delicious though!

Would recommend but not if you are on a budget.

Changed for the worst.. The menu has changed - it's now smaller (what happened to the chicken fried chicken!?) - but one thing hasn't changed: POOR SERVICE. Waitresses are clueless, the food takes forever to come out and the sides are always wrong. In addition, they are almost always out of atleast a couple dishes - i'm not sure who is in charge of inventory but I have never been to a restaurant that is out of food on a saturday night at 7:30.
