  1. The decor is actually pretty nice for Chinatown, but the food and service was lacking.
  2. Food is average, just nice ambience because it's newly renovated, rude customer service.
  3. The space is a bit cramped but the decor is impressive compared to the other simple restaurants in the neighborhood.
  4. You are paying for their expensive decor which they paid a fortune for and now you as the customer is paying for it.

  1. Everything we had was very very tasty.
  2. Decent chinese food
  3. And the hostess is a tasty dish in herself.
  4. Some crispy beef dish that had crispy but no discernible beef = Not good.
  5. not worth the money and not worth the stress when you want a nice meal with your friends and family.
  6. If you want good service and good food.
  7. would recommend this place to anyone looking for good Chinese food in NYC, especially among the thousands of other restaurants in Chinatown.
  8. Good food is what you're looking for here
  9. Their food is way overpriced, tables are small, some areas are dirty.
  10. trust me its worth the wait for good food.
  11. Anyway, we put up with that (although it's never been that bad) and concentrate on the good food.
  12. The bottom-line is that they brought a full-blown chinese banquet (which had a lot more food than the actual two-person pekin duck dish) which I ate without regret as the food was great.
  13. Most good Peking Duck places will also prepare and serve the first sandwich.
  14. The duck meat is moist and the skin is crispy.
  15. The accompanying vegetables have been fresh 95% of the time, and the pancakes are always excellent.
  16. Bad food!
  17. He suggested me to order two plates (crispy duck and some kind of pork), which he said would be just good enough for one person.
  18. Overall, the food here was terrible!
  19. Second the duck was dry, seemed stale, and the pancake wraps were more like Mexican cuisine tortillas.
  20. really liked the duck and the sauce, i did not experience any discrimination, but I am not asian.
  21. Seeing the duck wheeled out and sliced in front of you is not only very interesting, it adds a nice show element to the meal.
  22. Worst part is the duck was $40 and they didn't even use authentic wrap.
  23. This is a big tourist trap: overprice + second class food.
  24. good food
  25. The service is always good and the food is excellent.
  26. Bad food, discrimination, DO NOT RECOMMEND
  27. The food is good, very crowded, loud restaurant in the heart of china town.
  28. We haven't had great service, but we go here for the food, which is always exemplary and meets or goes above our expectations.
  29. The Chinese food is also decent standard fare, but go for the duck.
  30. All in all, a terrible meal.
  31. Great meal and the waiters put up with our troublesome crew, with no complaining.
  32. The duck was mediocre and the sauce it was served with was really watery.
  33. really don't understand some of the other reviews, obviously some individuals have never had good authentic Chinese food.
  34. The decor is actually pretty nice for Chinatown, but the food and service was lacking.
  35. The food was simply amazing.
  36. They refuse to serve after dinner to us oranges after a so expensive meal.
  37. The service is about as good as any Asian restaurant I have eaten at and the food (spring rolls, dumplings, a chicken and beef entree) was of a fairly good standard.
  38. So I ate my paltry, albeit expensive meal, gave no tip, and silently stewed all the way home.
  39. The skin was overly burnt and the meat was dry, as if someone forgot the duck in a deep fryer.
  40. The duck was cold and bland; the vegetable dish we ordered was soggy; the lamb dish was just salty!
  41. SO my wife and I walked up to the cashier and ask if we were supposed to go to her, she looked at us with this annoying look and roll her eyes back like we are begging for food, without saying a word she walked away and disappeared in the crowed, came bac
  42. If you are in China Town this is the place to have a nice chinese cuisine meal whether it´s a pekin duck or any other dish.
  43. read all the reviews and it seemed like a one of those restaurants that has good food and bad service which is quite common unfortunately.

  32. The person that said the service was terrible and they'd had better Peking duck elsewhere, went on to say they hadn't stayed to eat, they walked out before they were seated.
  33. We haven't had great service, but we go here for the food, which is always exemplary and meets or goes above our expectations.
  34. Service is good when the servers are in a good mood, which is typical of a lot of traditional asain restaurants.
  35. The duck was $40 dollars which is pretty expensive but after confirming with the waiter that it was a whole duck, I felt like it wasn't a bad deal, especially since restaurant itself was decently nice.
  36. If you want good service and good food.
  37. For the reviewer before me, don't feel bad about bad service to non-asian.

Not a good choice due to it's high rates

by DanBanici

This restaurant has one of the largest selections of premium tequilas, but the rate is so high that makes it unaffordable. The food quality is not the best and they also do not have a great selection of Chinese food. The staff is not all that supportive. So, not a good overall choice.

Very Disappointed

by Ming L

My family of 7 had a small birthday dinner party in Chinatown at Peking Duck House on September 9, 2010. We had reservations for 6:30pm. When we arrived at 6:25pm the restaurant was not even aware that there is a reservation and did not even prepare for it.

So far as the foods, the Scallion Pancakes tasted terrible, it did not even look like Pancakes, it looked kind of like Danish.

They did not carve the duck in front of us as it claimed on the menu. The other dish is a steamed Flounder, it is a large fish, and the waiter did not even offer to remove the bone for us as all the Chinese restaurants do. Not once did the waiters ever show up to ask how the foods were. They all gathered in the middle of the casher desk area doing nothing. We also felt rushed to leave the restaurant as the waiter wanted to quickly remove our dishes

This restaurants service was the worst that I have ever been to. If you like Chinese food there are lots of good Chinese restaurants with better services in Chinatown. It is not worth it to spend this kind of money and get all the aggravation. For me myself I will never go there again.

ASIAN BIAS,2009

by amill

Asians be prepared to be treated like a vagrant off the street. If you do eat there make sure you ask for the oranges before you get the bill or whatever they lavish non Asians and see how the managers & staff gets all twisted & creepy with excuses that you don't deserve the same treatment. Skip the tip!!!

  • Pros: negative zero rating is too high for the food+service

Bad food! Bad Service with Ridiculous EXCUSES!

by Lynn916

Ducks are too dry to match their so expensive price! Also, their service is very inequality .

They refuse to serve after dinner to us oranges after a so expensive meal. We asked why they only not gave us.

At first, they said there is no orange left, then they said we have to pay for it, so we asked them to show us the menu. They finally said we were being bad customers, but others are their friends, and those customers spend a lot of money there, so they would like and have to pay for the orange for all of their friends!?! How Ridiculous!

We will not go back there again. AND EVERYBODY, DO NOT GO THERE!

Do Not Eat Here!!

by LynnHQ

After reading all the recommendation in numerous sites, plus some in the guide books, I decided to go there with a group of friends to give it a try.

Big disappointment! The duck was cold and bland; the vegetable dish we ordered was soggy; the lamb dish was just salty! Overall, the food here was terrible!

This is a big tourist trap: overprice + second class food.

It's a waste of money. Don't even think of eating here.
