Good Chow Kue Teow. I always like Malaysian food and I have heard so many good things about this place and I finally got a chance to try it out. But I think I made a mistake of ordering the wrong dish.

MY boyfriend's stir-fried Noodles, AKA CHOW KUEH TEOW, is very tasty. I decided to venture out of my usual Prawn Mee or Curry dishes and tried this "Clay Pot Pearl Noodle Soup". Turns out it was a disappointment. It tasted kind of like congee but instead of rice it was noodles. It was kind of plain.

I would still give this place a second chance since I didn't try out their strong dishes. But all I could say is don't order that clay pot noodle soup unless you like bland noodle soup!

crowded but worth it for the cheap eats!. Like the review below says, you don't come here for the service or the ambiance, but at these prices who cares! Came here with some friends on new years day for an early dinner and it was super packed (was surprised, thought most ppl would still be hungover lol) so had to wait a bit even though we had a reservation. Given the crowd, we also had to wait a while for the food (but it gave us a chance to catch up anyway), and every time a waiter came it was a different one—and they didn't care to put the right dish in front of the right person, just put it wherever. The staff didn't waste time with pleasantries, and had to ask for water, but they got everything to us that we needed eventually. The food was good, not the best I've ever had, but still tasty and like I said, haven't seen prices this low in a while. I enjoyed my roti canai & singapore rice noodles, and my friends enjoyed their various noodle soups. I would go back again! Worth trying.

good food, good price. You don't come here for the service and you don't come here for the ambiance. You come here to get good quality food for a low price. Everybody should start off the meal with the roti canai. The curry dipping sauce is delicious and there's always left over after the appetizer is done but keep the sauce in case you want to dip something into it later on in the meal. The hainese chicken is always yummy. Great for groups and you can get away with spending less then $20 a person and getting filled with good food.

hair in the noodle soup. I had a dinner with my friend this weekend. The waitress does not communicate in English. It was hard to ask the recommendations and menu. My friend ordered a noodle, and it was black hair in the soup!!

We just left them without complaining...because they do not speak English. What can we do? Besides, here is a cheap casual place. I do not expect them a good service.

So-so food, loud restaurent. There were 4 kids and two adults on the table behind us. All kids were screaming and expressing themselves loud, but their seemingly parents did not seem to mind it at all. We started to get stressed to eat over children's scream, and asked a waiter(some waiters and waitress does not speak English) to tell the parents to control their kids for other customers. The waiter told us he would have a manager to take care of it, but nothing was changed until we gave up our meal and left that place. We are not going back there.

Inconsistent unappetizing starts. Usually this place is pretty good but last week i went there with a couple of friends from out-of-town and just had appetizers after a light dinner somewhere nearby. Unfortunately dinner at the well rated Grand Sichuan at Canal was so so. Maybe the chefs had a bad day here, the Roti Canai was OK, the sauce was disappointedly SOUPY. The Malaysian PoPiah steam spring rolls were a soggy mess. My friends thought it was the worst meal in their trip here. It was embarrassing to be a host who had better meals here. Some place to avoid if I try to impress a visitors again.

nice find. Came here w/ an old college friend last night and had a great meal. Apparently she?s been coming here for yrs while we were in school so this was her spot. I?ve never heard of Nyonya so after she told me we were coming here, I looked it up on yelp of course and see its quite popular and I even saw the Yelp sticker in the window when we got there which was cool. So of course we started of w/ the Roti Telur ? OMG, so tasty, reminds me if my moms curry chicken & potatoes, but my moms is better! Nayh nayh!

The ladies next to us had so yummy looking dishes and they recommended the Spareribs Malaysian Style ? BOMB! I want more! Back off! damn that ish was good.

My friend likes the Indian Mee Goreng (Indian style stir fried egg noodles in mild dried squid sauce w/ tofu, potatoes, shrimp, egg, bean sprouts, & peanut), it was aight, but I think my friend squeezed waay too much lemon on it and ruined the true taste. I prob wouldn?t order it again, looks like there are better dishes to try.

Good food-- but for NY tastes, hectic in the early evening. Right in Chinatown, and a bit tough to find. It's not an easy part of New York... Besides, ask a New Yorker Where's Grand Street? and you'll probably get an answer: They're ALL grand!

The food was good, though not as spicy as I'd hoped. Maybe it's for farang (or whatever they call us in Malaysia) taste. Our waitress was extremely tolerant of us climbing all over each other. Lynn, is a vegetarian, and it was slightly tougher than we'd thought to find the right food for her. Most of the food is chicken based. But she did, and seemed to be pleased. The rest of us were happy with out dishes, but nothing was spectacular. (The fried pork intestine was the best of the bunch even though it doesn't sound very appetising.)

The place was really crowded when we got there (7PM, Thursday), but thinned out later in the night.

Best Malaysian food outside Malaysia!. Great food, but crowded on the weekends! Don't worry, the food comes fast and is authentic and tasty!

Editorial Review by Marcella Veneziale. The restaurant's name means lady and is meant to evoke Malaysian home-cooking; hence the traditional dishes like fish head soup and roti canai.
