The Scene – Tiny Pintxos bursts with energy. The single room seats 30 without much elbow room. Decor is rustic, from hanging utensils to terra cotta dishes and playful decoupage tabletops, and combines with the pleasant bustle to evoke a festive Iberian mood. New York streets seem foreign after a meal here. – – The Food – Unlike many tapas restaurants in New York, Pintxos stays close to the Spanish ideal of simplicity. The Basque-style tapas showcase a single ingredient each--a dish of mixed olives, of Manchego cheese wedges, of chorizo--rather than the complex…

why do you think they're closed? yes, the owner's bitchy wife. she waited my table one time and oh god!!!! was she rude!!! she used to have fights with hubby right in front of customers. poor guy!!!! the food was just ok, the soups bland, the salads big and bland, the "pulpo" hard and salty and so on. people just stop going and they went down the drain. where is Chef Ramsey when you need him?.
if you're thinking of opening a tapas bar remember leave your bitchy wife at home. lol
- Pros: location
- Cons: the owner's "friendly" wife!!!
perfectly authentic

having just returned from a two week trip in spain (madrid, barcelona, and bilbao), my boyfriend and i were craving pintxos. doing quite a bit of research on nyc tapas/spanish restaurants, we decided on this place (after deciding against others we had visited prior to our trip to spain). it's a tiny, tiny space, but once we were in and saw the large party dining next to us (they were spanish) we knew we made the right choice. food is authentic and fresh! the owner, who is also the waiter, was extremely friendly and accommodating. spanish wine, cava, and sherry selection is good, and the owner is more than happy to offer his suggestions. we've gone back several times since our first, and we'll be sure to visit again before our next trip to spain.
- Pros: authentic food
- Cons: small space
Don't say tapas, say pintxos in the Basque country.

The Best Gazpacho in NYC! This great mom and pop shop, few of those left in NYC, is a rare find. I first arrived to Pintxos to meet friends after work and the place was empty, after a pitcher of the best sangria, I met one of the chefs/cooks,Eder, who I met again just recently at Tia Pols, now I get it. Well let me say that they share something. I love Pintxos beacuse its a small boutiqe spot because if you come early a weekday with a group the waitstaff makes you feel very VIP. You feel as if you are on vacation. The giant Pawns are sooo fresh with the shells on, the patata Bravas I loved, the cod croquettes were rich and creamy. and the stuffed mussels just like the ones I had in Madrid, and the baby lamb chops were fingure lickin'. Oh! Oh! If you are brave enough you MUST have the BABY EEL. The all Spanish wine list will have me back soon. This place is small its great for groups no larger than 8-10. So,be there or be square!
- Pros: Great food, and Sangria
- Cons: To Small
