“Shrimp was very fresh and the baked spinach pie was great!”
“think the wine was very good.”
“Great Eats (and might I add quite healthy as they promote an authentic 'Mediteranian Diet' Menu for those of you who really want to live - longer!”
“We decided to give a 0.00% tip for the great service, but the bill already came with an 18% tip added (they published this policy in their menu, so complaints are useless).”
“They told us it was a good place: it wasn't.”
“However, the service and the food are so bad, that the whole experience was completely ruined.”
“The price was reasonable and you get plenty for your money.”
The wost service to the point where my friends left!!.
I was there for my birthday and also performed flamenco. I invited friends and family, too and they enjoyed the show only because I was part of it and were supporting me. But it was understaffed. And even through the place was half-full but they seated many of the guests at the worst locations. The staff was unaccommodating and rude.
I urged my friends to stay and while my husband was arguing their situation with the owner, they literally took away my friends' table!!
There was no point of my friends staying so they left. I'm not returning to this restaurant. This is absolutely the worst service I've ever experienced anywhere, especially in New York.
Family Friendly , Live Argentine Tango Music.. I went to New York City from Reading, Pennsylvania with my wife and ten year old daughter and to see my friends art exhibition at Lafayette Grill and Bar. The large walls of Lafayette Grill were decorated with my Friends and other artists paintings. After the exhibition, we had a very tasty dinner. We shared Mediterranean mezze and grill octopus. It was delicious. The tsatski, humus eggplant dip with toasted peter bread was out of this world. We also enjoyed the baked mousaka a Greek specialty , eggplant , with ground beef and bechamel sauce. The price was reasonable and you get plenty for your money. . the waiters were very attentive and friendly. The owner welcome us , and made us feel at home in this family friendly restaurant. Later on, the restaurant quickly, became crowded with Tango dancers . The entrance fee was only ten dollars and with that. we got a free lesson, live music and a tango show. I highly recommend this restaurant with its beautiful new dance floor and lighting to anyone interested in learning Argentine tango on a Saturday night . You should visit their web site , The owner, made us aware of other events such as Flamenco , Salsa and Fridays, Mediterranean nights belly dancers and live Greek music. ..
Worst service and food in NYC so far. Service: worst service we've experienced in a NY restaurant. We had regular water as drink, and no one even bothered to fill the glasses now and then. No one came to ask if we wanted dessert, or coffee, we were just left there. Un-polite and rude manners. After being seated in a regular table, we were told to move in an un-polite way, because they've accepted too many reservations, and we were placed in an additional table they've just put practically inside the dancing floor. They told us it was a good place: it wasn't. People walking, dancing, taking pictures, just 1 cm from your face. Food was awful: for example, a medium done steak was burnt on the outside, the taste was awful. They gave us the check without even asking if we were done. We decided to give a 0.00% tip for the great service, but the bill already came with an 18% tip added (they published this policy in their menu, so complaints are useless). If you don't believe us, just read the majority of the reviews published here (wished we've done it before going). The only reason this place is still in business I believe is because it's in New York City; we will never return to this restaurant, but there will always be un-prepared turists as ourselves in the city to fool. There was live tango music, and that is the only positive aspect of the place; the two musicians were excellent. People could dance tango in the dancing floor, and that was also nice to watch. We even practiced some tango steps (we know only 2: the "cruzada" and the "8". However, the service and the food are so bad, that the whole experience was completely ruined. I would recommend this place perhaps to take tango lessons, or listen/watch very good live tango music and not-that-good dance, but not to eat. This is not a place for regular turists that want to have a good and peaceful dinner + tango experience.
TERRIBLE SERVICE. Went to dinner last night, although my food was good the fish my friend ordered was absolutly terrible. Furthermore service was barely existant and they had the nerve to automatically add 18% service. NOT GOING BACK ever again!!
wow, what a great show.
I went to see belly dancer Dalia Carella. She was amazing, the restaurant was nice the bartender was friendly,. The food was delicious. I had pasta with shrimp.
It was my birthday, the live band played, Greek, turkish and the singer was Israeli.
she sang some songs in Hebrew. It was just owsome watching the dancer and the senven piece band . I danced all night.
I am still bitter! Boo!!!!. This was the singular worst dining experience of my life and I've worked at restaurants and traveled extensively and am generally understanding. Even with reservations, we had to wait 20 minutes until our server came to take our order, then waited an HOUR & 10 minutes for our food! The belly dancers were OK, but theres an 18% gratuity incl. (since they know the service is awful) & our server calculated our tax and tip wrong! (Soda is $5 btw)! 2 entrees, an app, a soda and a glass of wine came out to $93! My salmon was old not cooked correctly & not seasoned at allnot even salted! It took another 25 minutes to pay, because there was only one server working. We left literally with a bad taste in our mouths! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! If you want to watch the dancers, sit at the bar!
Good Greek Food @ a Good price!.
We were 25 guys last night and the food & service was excellent at this friendly old time Greek Eatery. I have tried the best and for the price this was a good value!
Go with a big group like we did and you won't be dissappointed. Tekanis!
Avoid this Restaurant. After experiencing such an awful evening, I would not suggest you spend any time or effort going down here. There was poor service, an awful and sleezy crowd, the show was very bad and they just want what's in your wallet. Avoid at all costs!!
A GREAT TIME!!!!!.
My first visit to Lafayette Grill was full of fun and great food! For starters, The Mediterranian antipasto was full of flavor. Shrimp was very fresh and the baked spinach pie was great! Overall the main entrees were awsome! Seafood was fresh and flavorful and the Lambchops were juicy and tender!
I was there the night of one weekend for the belly dancing extravaganza. I think it happens weekly and its great and features live music with really cool instruments. Overall a very good night and the parking was easy becuase they have their own lot!
