The Scene – It's rare to find a New York restaurant space that allows both the spirit and the shoulders room to stretch out and relax, but Capsouto Freres is just such a place. Its exposed-brick walls, huge windows and glossy wood floors provide a soothing but dramatic background. – – The Food – Standby entrees like poached salmon in a green herbal vinaigrette, calf's liver in sherry-vinegar sauce and roast duck form the backbone of the menu. Specials are likely to encompass such exotica as wild Scottish venison and free-range Australian lamb, or seasonal items like…

Terrible service, and terrible food!
by LisaHh
Just like everyone else, i thought i would be going to a nice french restaurant with great service and great food, however i was quickly proven wrong right when i walked through the door. I was waited for about an hour to even sit down. The food was not only bad but also very poorly decorated. We wanted to leave as quickly as possible because I felt the need to go throw up! WARNING!! Save your money and go somewhere else!
Good place for having dinner or lunch.

Found this place through the participating restaurant lists of the restaurant week. Not like other 'Sample Sale' restaurant. This place served you as normal quantity which I regard it as 'Fair'.
The whole atmosphere is pretty good . Service is prompt. Most important, I love their food and would like to recommend their chicken and lamb, very tender and juicy.
Love their chocalate musse cake, yummy!
The soup is very delicious too.
This one is the one definitely worth visiting again.
Used to be better

We have been to CF about 6 times and I think the place and service is starting to feel a bit neglected. The food is good and the room is charming although, lately they skimp a bit on A/C and heat. In my last 2 visits, it has not been possible to get good help with the wine list. The waiter makes some stuff up and when I asked for teh sommelier, the barender came over and was not well informed or wine educated. The service is delivered by a team which can be frustrating when they don't communicate among themselves. Some things you get twice and some you never get. We waited 20 minutes to order and then were approached 3 times by 3 different people. The entrees came out 10 minutes after our appetizers and, despite getting water poured about 20 times during the meal, no one served the wine.
The parking is easy, food good (not great), and the room is comfortable, but the management is not paying attention. and things are slipping...
- Pros: comfortable seating space, charming room
- Cons: confused service, signs of neglect in the dining-ware and management
good food ,professional service and pleasant ambience.

Try the sole amandine it is very good. My wife enjoyed the soft shell crabs which were in season. It is unanimous, the hazelnut souffle is excellent.; the best that I ever had . The composition of the souffle is so light and flavorful that I'm sure any flavor would be delicious. Service by all----waiter, server, busboy was professional and friendly. I hate it when they ask "still working", not here! The staff here is well trained.Four glasses of wine, one cocktail, two entrees and one souffle with tax and tip $180.
- Pros: food, service, ambience
- Cons: not easy to find on first trip, suggest using the subway
Celebrate life with the Capsouto Brothers

An open, welcoming space conducive to conversation, you always feel welcome and like you are "celebrating life." The most apt description I can imagine is "a room full of pleasantness". High end French Bistro fare served with imagination and amazing service, well trained an eager to please, it is a great place for family, friends, dates, business or celebrations. The Slad Belle Chaumiere, e.g. is always filled with fresh greens and endive, garnished with Mandarin Oranges and nuts with a light but tasty homemade dressing. The Filet is the juicy, melt in your mouth experience you never seem to be able to replicate at home, and there are rarities to find such as venison or quail. They send over interesting little tidbits before and after the meal; a square of homemade quiche or Pate on Melba Toast garnished in an interesting fashion. But you really go there for the souflee, which you order before the meal, (it is made fesh for each order, while you dine), with old standbys like chocolate and hazlenut, (a MUST!) and specials like "red"orange. At $9.50 each, a bargain. Each will serve 2 or 3.
You feel like you are dining at a high end "joint", but you don't have to spend a weeks pay to do it. In an industrial part of the city, is unexpectedly quiet and easy to park within a block or two every night of the week. So to come in for "a special night", (be it date, birthday, (mine every year), business meeting and it is convenient without the hassles of midtown dining. Others describe occasional impertinance, but I've NEVER seen anything but joy there. A great place to introduce the kids to the joys of fine dining. The well trained waitstaff tries to point you in any direction to further your enjoyment, while Sammy, a Capsouto brother circulates to ensure you are enjoying yourself and feel welcome without being intrusive. They end your meal with cokkies and candied orange or lemon rind. (And they'll give you some to take home if you ask.) Come! Celebrate life!
- Pros: Great food, easy to park, reasonable prices, great atmpsphere!
- Cons: need reservations on the weekends for sure
