David Bouley hasn't been in the news much lately but he's a titan of New York dining, and has continued, through lo these many years to present some of the most elegant and precise food in the country at his flagship restaurant. He has a special affinity with seafood and vegetables, so it's a great place to take light eaters, but the meats are great too in their own way.

Superb! – I have enjoyed dining at all the past Bouleys and this current Bouley is a gem of a restaurant from the delightful touch of Fuji apples displayed on shelves, their sweet fragrance pervading the air of the foyer, to the exquisite French décor of the lounge and beyond. Whether seated in the main dining room or equally charming back room, one can not help but feel relaxed and at ease in such gracious surroundings. The cuisine is French/ American and the menu is fairly extensive, offering and array of dishes and wine to satisfy the most sophisticated of palates. I opted for the five-course tasting menu and chose the porcini flan, which I thought was unique and delicious in addition to the venison which was cooked to perfection. For dessert I chose the chocolate frivolous - very YUMMY! Each dish was understated yet imaginative and sublime. The meal ended with petit fours and a complimentary plate of fruit. Everything was flawless, including the friendly, easygoing and professional staff and I appreciated not being rushed but just given the chance to savor everything. All in all, this latest Bouley is an outstanding restaurant.

Don't bother – Having been before, we booked a month in advance for Christmas Day. We arrived to chaos. No greeting, nowhere to sit or stand, and no table. We were eventually informed (when we tracked down a person) that the wait would be 1/2 an hour. But people in the full waiting area had been WAITING FOR OVER AN HOUR. We also heard the restaurant service was very slow, about 4 hours for the whole meal. People were very annoyed. We went around the corner instead to the old NY standby, where we had lovely, attentive service.

Who would want to spend their significant money for very poor service?

A new york experience – Bouley is a fine dining experience. You go there for special occassions - birthdays and anniversaries. It's expensive and beautiful but really not stuffy or snobby. Once you are in there (men, jackets are required) and everyone is all dressed up, it's just so civilized.

So the atmosphere works, but just as importantly - the food is delcious. Filling but not too heavy, interesting and flavourful but not gimicky or odd. We just loved it. And we were doing okay till the desserts, where we definitely went overboard. The desserts are too delicious and worth a seperate visit.

The wine expert was charming and we had a great night.

I would definitely go again. Here you get what you pay for.

The place has the most amazing decor – When you walk into this place there is fuji apples on the walls, and the aroma bursts into your face as you open the door, I have never seen something like that before, the Chef is from France or Europe, area, and he though of the idea to entice the appetite, but fuji apples help with head aches, like a pain relief Advil with out the meds. The place is lightly lite, with candles, and gorgeous artwork, I think this would be a great date spot. The Decor is mid evil times like, and the bathrooms remind me of some kind of fantasy. and the manager or owner is nice.

Over-Rated – While dining at Bouley, the Food was at par at best. When you're paying 255 for a Chef's Tasting Menu and a Wine Paring, you'd expect more. The attitude of the servers is unbelievable. I pay to eat and pay your tips, treat me well is my thinking. Troy, the Maitre'D was a complete mess...Fine dining at its worst in NYC.

No longer my favorite--but still very good – My Husband and I use to go to Bouley regularly recently, however, the food has not been as wonderful. In addition, the room is feeling old. They also seem to have a fly problem bc everything we have gone recently there are flys buzzing around our food--maybe it the flowers but they need to remedy this problem. The breads are still amazing as are the desserts and the service is also very good, but a little stuffy. Good food but not great; more authentic french than Daniel - for example-but over all Daniel is better

Love the apples – Wow!! What a treat. We had the 6 course tasting menu to celebrate our 1st Anniversary. Only one flaw, the egg and pancetta dish. It was the most amazing egg with bacon in a cream foam with white truffle (i think). But it wasn't breakfast time. Also ther was a loud woman sitting next to us, We heard her whole conversation. The best was when her date said he didn't want to be in a relationship with her. I laughed loud enough so she could hear me. The service was impecable. I was pampered so much it was a pleasure paying the check. Excellent restaurant expierience.

Best Duck I have ever had! – Alone in NYC just before Christmas I decide to treat myself to what I expected would be an excellent meal at Bouley and every aspect of the meal exceeded my expectations. It was really outstanding! A truly incredible gourmet experience! The fragrance of apples one smells when walking in the door at Bouley and viewing them on the wooden shelves was especially innovative as was the rest of the restaurant's decor. I was courteously seated and although by myself was given ample attention. I had come late and expected to eat light so I ordered a few appetizers with the Long Island Duck. Not knowing exactly how the appetizers would taste, I decided to give the sommelier a chance to suggest something special for the wine pairings and this was a great decision as he and the waiter both came up with several fantastic combinations, which I would not normally have tried. The crab leg appetizer with black truffel was served in a neat copper dish and was a unique combination of crab legs in a far eastern flavored stock. The flavors were really "out-of-this-world", a delicious choice by itself, but coupled with the wine which was something on par with a sautern ( which I am kicking myself for not writing down), it was exquisite! The other appetizer I ordered was a pheasant egg which was surrounded with a foam and also had thin slivers of white and black truffels with a blue cheese polenta. It has been a few weeks so I can't remember all the other flavors that were in this dish but it was a real knockout. Then came the Long Island Duck breast absolutely roasted to perfection with remarkable flavors as well but the size was big enough to take half home and it was so, so tender. The Pommard the waiters recommended to go with the duck was again a perfect combination. The entire evening was quite memorable and certainly one of the best meals I have ever had. At $125 not including the tip the prices were very reasonable considering the quality,

Save your money, what a bunch of jerks... – Deeply disappointing overall experience. Food was just OK. There was a 50 minute wait beyond our reservation time with NO apology and NO explanation. At this caliber of restaurant, that is absurd. Also, I emailed the restaurant to complain about this poor management and when I received no reply, the message wes resent. The lack of any response shows you what these jerks think about their customers. Arrogant snobs who won't survive.

don't waste your money – I had to return my steak 3 times before it was cooked the way I'd asked for it to be done. Also, my table was comprised of 5 women and the service we receieved was condescending.
