“sincerely hope the people who have been going here for years speak up to the management because I will certainly never go back for anything other than sangria until they bring their wonderful old menu back.”
“great food, great atmosphere, only complaint was Aussie bartender who got our order wrong and barely paid any attention to us when we wanted something.”
“small/intimate. The tapas food was good, small portions, but small price too.”
Worst service EVER.
Hi,
We came by on a Monday night to see the place for my boyfriend's birthday...we waited at the bar at least 20 minutes before getting a drink, same for the next one. The server preferred talking to his friends whereas everybody was just waiting.
Anyway we decided to book the backroom for the next Saturday since we did not have any other place and since we were around 30.
We called twice in the week and the girl on the phone was very kind and told us that there was no [roblem as from 10 pm.
On Saturday night, all our friends were there but the guy did not reserve the entire room and we were just packed on 4 tables...Never mind, we decided to deal with.
At midnight, the barmaid told us that the backroom was closing in..30 minutes !! Shame on us, we were supposed to stay ther until 4 !
I asked to see the manager, the guy came, was totally drunk or under something else and just told me that he did not have enough barmen for the backroom and that we would have to fit in the "main room" which was packed..and us 30 !!
The guy was rude, arrogant and did not find to help us.
Thankfully, we go out every week end and have good connections in the club so that we ( the 30 of us) could enter a very nice club ( Greenhouse by the way)..
I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND N, POOR SERVICE, BAD ATTITUDE
come for the sangria, stay for the company. I often come to N on a weeknite, but I've also made the occasional visit on the weekend. While crowds predominate starting on Friday, one thing is absolutely consistent throughout the week: the service. In particular, there is a Russian bartender who complements the serene and, dare I say, ethereal, ambiance of the space. I honestly cannot be more unqualified and effusive in my praise. Every time I go there she has always made sure that my party and I are comfortable, and when I happen to arrive alone she engages me in conversation with a sincerety that makes group therapy seem as scripted as a Jerry Springer show! I don't know who to thank for this terrific place but please don't change it!
!Caliente!.
A Venezuelan and a Russian flirtateously stir up a dangerous assortment of sinful sangria, tapas that soothe the soul and mysteriously enticing witty banter. If you're smart, you'll hobbyhorse your way here on a Wednesday and the flamenco taps will bring you far from Soho and straight to the heart of Buenos Aires. The strategically placed candles set the mood and your glass is never empty which makes N a deliciously unavoidable secret. And who can resist that kind of temptation?
Did I mention the bathroom are A+?
great place. great food, great atmosphere, only complaint was Aussie bartender who got our order wrong and barely paid any attention to us when we wanted something. we're definitely not needy restaurant/bar patrons, but do expect some sort of service at an establishment like this. overall great place, bartender needs an attitude adjustment.
Good tapas, good drinks, cozy atmosphere. I really like to stop at this place for a quick drink and tapas and catching up with my best friend. I've only gone after work hours so not sure how it gets in the later evening hours. I love their pulpo and cheese dishes. We always get either the mojito or caprinha and we've yet to be disappointed. It's quite small so you want to make sure you don't go with a large group and the drinks are pricey ($10/each). No happy hour special that I can see and cash only, which is another minus at times. Overall though I'd recommend if you're in the area or looking for an after work spot with a guest or two.
poor service. i stopped off for a glass of wine during a day of shopping with my girlfriend last weekend, and the service was so bad i felt compelled to write about it. it was saturday afternoon and the girl working the bar was chatting up a guy and completely ignoring everyone else. the wine and food selection is fine, and exactly what you'd expect for a tapas place. the space is really small, but not bad as long as you don't go on a weekend night. i've been here maybe 7 or 8 times, and every time had poor service. i just have no tolerance for this in manhattan where there's so many options. next time i'll find someplace new...
Surliest Service in 8 years of living in nyc. I had to write in because i have never wanted to stiff a waiter more, but since i didn't, this is my only recourse. We came in on a Sunday night, 10 pm, not crowded. We had deliberated about where to go so this experience was especially disappointing because we clearly chose wrong. The Aussie bartender could barely stand to give eye contact and begrudgingly showed us to a table. Tried to make us sit at a table that wouldn't fit us because it was closer to the bar, so he wouldn't have to walk as far. Took our order without writing it down and got it wrong. We didn't bother to correct him because his attitude was SO UNPLEASANT. Asked for water but he had already taken off. The food was far worse than the last time i'd been in here. The shrimp tasted really frozen...like something you'd make yourself at home and then say, "Oooh, this didn't turn out." I had been here once before and it was fun and festive. I felt like I was at some grim relative's house who couldn't wait for us to leave the very second we walked in. And the bland food certainly did not merit the terrible attitude. Booooooooo!!!!
Great sangria. This place serves really good sangria (however it was a bit pricey in opinion). It's small and narrow, seating is limited. It's very dark inside and can get crowded, but not overwhelming. I hear the Tapas is good as well. I don't think it's great date place, but it can be intimate. I wouldn't say romantic either. A good place to socialize and meet up with friends for a chill evening.
AWESOME sangria, great tapas, really warm atmosphere. My boyfriend introduced me to this wonderful little romantic bar. With its polka-dotted walls, delicious sangria and generally warm and intimate atmosphere, this bar is a great place to catch up with old friends, meet a date for the first time, or enjoy a tapas dinner. I love it.
basque tapas are awesome.
Constantly in search of good tapas: The most innovative and classical basque tapas in NYC are at Tia Pol on 10th ave and at n 33 crosby tapas bar. n used to have a catalan selection but seems to have shifted to the west coast...good shift!
rumor has it that tia pol is opening a new location?
