Editorial Review for The Otheroom – by Ted Kemp
The Scene
In the far west of Greenwich Village, where the neighborhood sheds its tourist traps to take on a more serene, cobblestoned aesthetic, you'll find this smallish, loungey affair, where minimalist light fixtures emit a low-key glow over rough brick walls, metal appointments and gray backroom sofas.
The Draw
The bar stays fairly uncrowded except for late weekend nights, when young uptown professionals settle in, sans tie, to join the establishment's more arty Village regulars. A knowledgeable bar staff helps steer novice patrons through a drink menu ranging from Spanish riojas and California cabernets to tap-handle hefeweizens and limited-distribution bottled beers. However, like its Soho predecessor, the Room, the Otheroom does not stock spirits.

great wine selection here, mixed crowd, no pretense (at least when i was there). music was great, vibe was wonderful and the atmosphere is comfy and romantic. definitely one of my favorite places.
Pros: great atmosphere and music, not too crowded, great wine selection

hate to shoot down the previous reviewer, but the B&T crowd does go there-I being proof.. It's a great place to go on a date, dark, quality beer list, great wine, couches in the back to get cozy. I don't think this place will ever get too popular, due to its out of the way location.. on the very quiet and otherwise boring block of perry street.
