Impeccably refurbished mid-century modern furniture in an unlikely neighborhood.. The Scene If not for its stellar reputation as a top-notch vendor of 1950s furniture, it would be surprising to find as impressive a store as this tucked away on a quiet side street near the Holland Tunnel. reGeneration is set up like an inviting living room, with beautifully restored inventory as well as some original beds, sofas, and rugs inspired by the better-known designers featured within.
The Goods reGeneration features a knockout selection of armless Florence Knoll sofas in wool and leather, Danish designers like Arne Jacobsen and Borg Mogensen, and favorite Herman Miller pieces. The store also sells hand-embroidered duvet covers and harder to find items like early Knoll grasscloth-doored cabinets and Finn Juhl easy chairs. Next time you find yourself despairing of the picked-over end-of-week selection at better-known mod purveyors like Las Venus and White, go west, young aesthetes.
