“Fairly new to NY from Boston, I had been trying to find just the right salon- a place I could get a haircut that had a relaxing and comfortable environment with excellent talent, but somewhere below the $300 dollar price point.”
“Free samples, warm tea: now I'm just rambling about all the good stuff.”
“The little perks the salon offers are also lovely - computers available while you wait, fresh fruit, brownies, thoughtfully selected magazines, occasional give-away contests and special events, and staff who remember who you are and what you like.”
“recently visited the Sam Brocato Salon for Great Lengths hair extensions with Jason after extensive research.”
“I'm a born n bred NY'er and this place is absolutely the best place ive ever has hair done.”
“Wendy is a great hair colorist, so I continue to come back here, even though the prices just recently went up about 20% for a hair coloring!”
“first checked the website - which is so user friendly and you can even book your appointment online which I loved - and the prices are so reasonable!”
“Went to Sam Brocato after I came across the salon on Citysearch while looking for a GOOD, inexpensive haircut.”
ubsessed. I have never found myself after a month or two not in a panic to get my hair done. It has been two and half months since I have seen Mary for my highlights and they have grown out in a way that is so natural and pretty. Mary had talked to me before hand and I made it clear I am broke and cant make it to the salon that much, instead of ignoring me and making so I would have to come back every month, Mary gave me the most natural highlights ever, you cant even really tell its been so long since I have seen her!! Its nice to have someone care more about the person than the sale! I will defiantly become of regular here.
Awesome Hair Cut!.
Moving to the city and trying to find someone you can trust to cut your hair is HARD. Tried twice at one place and wasn't willing to go for 3 (strikes your out). Know of Sam Brocato's reputation and checked it out. LEAH rocks and I and thrilled with my haircut. Not only a haircut but tons of ideas on how to wear it different ways. I couldn't be more thrilled.
That and the staff there is very professional and the salon has cool too. Thank you! Thank you!
Fantastic. After a botched haircut by a stylist that didn't listen, I found a professional in Krista. Krista listens and does exactly what you want. I found my salon.
Brilliant.
I got my hair cut and colored at this salon a few weeks ago and I have to say it was the best hair dressing experience I've ever had. I moved to New York from Ireland in May and was dreading the mammoth task of finding a colorist and stylist that I was going to be happy with. I stumbled upon the Sam Brocato salon after purchasing a Groupon voucher and reading several reviews. It did not disappoint.
The colorist was Mary and the stylist Krista. Both were absolutely outstanding. I've never been happier walking out of a salon in my life.
Mary is a magician. She gave me the exact color that I wanted. My hair is dyed blonde and in all the years I've had it colored I've usually found it either too blonde or too dark, never just right or what I asked for. She managed to tone down all the brassiness caused by the sun and gave my highlights a natural color that for once matched my face. And all in record time.
Krista is another genius. My hair is long, straight and boring. I usually just stick to getting the ends trimmed after several failed attempts at different layered styles over the years. Without losing too much off the end she managed to create a fantastic shape all around that is so flattering and easy to keep. I was absolutely delighted. An amazing blow out too. I would recommend this salon in a heart beat. Can't wait to go back.
Finally 2 years later.
After 2 years of looking a decent place to cut my hair, I found the place.
I was sad and frustrated, all those fancy salons and they don't know how to cut fine, thing straight hair.
At Sam Brocato Salon, I found Chelsea Turner, SHE IS ABSOLUTELY SWEET, and took the time to understand what is going on with me in regard to my hair.
I will be back and recommend people for sure.
And I forgot to mentioned the price is very reasonable.
best color ever. I have been on the search for a good colorist for years!! I finally hit the jackpot when my friend recommended I go to Mary. I get hightlights and they are exactly what I explained to her. She is young, and hip but down to earth like a normal person ( I hate when stylist have a "i'm better than you attitude") The whole staff was nice and the salon is huge for soho standards. All and all great experiance!!!!
Great and generous place for outstanding haircut. This is my third time at the salon. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming. I am using Lisa, who is a master stylist. In addition to giving a fabulous cut, she listens to what you want. In addition, there are no airs here. The stylist does the wash, the cut, and the blowout. It's a beautiful place, with plenty of privacy, yet you don't feel isolated. Highly recommended.
Curl Interrupted.
First off, the price is half of all the other treatments. The salon was great, and I was lucky enough to have the owner, Sam Brocato, assist in on the treatment. The treatment, Curl Interrupted, is more of a super conditioning treatment with a relaxer. I just washed my hair today, and it is much less frizzy. Sam was fairly conservative on the treatment. He told the stylist to not treat the top half of my hair since I have hi-lites. He was very cautious in using the treatment on the top half of my hair, since he thought it would cause breakage . So he conditioned the top part and applied the full treatment to the bottom half. As far as what I can tell with my hair, it does seem much softer. I washed my hair, and it tried differently. Compared to other treatments, I think Curl Interrupted is less aggressive than the Japanese and the Brazilian. I still have wave but my hair does not look like a mushroom cloud.
I would say that this is a great conditioning treatment that relaxes the curl, but does not make the hair straight. I like the wave in my hair, so I will probably go back. With the treatment, the salon also gives for free the shampoo, conditioner, and moisture treatment.
For the love of Joy!.
I recently discovered Joy La Rosa at the Sam Brocato Salon when desperately seeking a chic, economically priced haircut. A coworker recommended me to Joy, whose cuts are pro-rated as she's new in town and thus considered "new talent" at this up and coming salon to the stars. What a steal! She gave my fine, thinning, wavy hair the perfect vintage-inspired bob. She cut my bangs according to the specific slope of my scalp- the same scalp she gave an exquisite massage to during my wash. In the past, I'd been texturized (aka: thinned!) to death by various fancy-pants stylists in the city. Finally I have the body, thickness and real sass that I want.
I have now gone to Joy for two cuts and two blow outs (also really fierce!). I liked her so much I sent my boyfriend. It was as though Joy was sending me a love letter through my man's hair- the perfect pseudo-hipster meets Mad Men cut. He, in turn, sent his good buddy, who now sports a wholly unique Joy-devised John Lennon-esque crop. She really listens to what you want and gets a sense of your personal style before pulling out the sheers. After seeing her work on many a friend's head, I wholeheartedly put my faith in Joy. Go now while she's still inexpensive; her cuts are truly priceless!
SUPER Stylist. DOPE! I love this hair salon. It has a super laid back comfortable vibe, where you can still expect to receive all of the special treatment a Soho salon would offer. All the fun without the pretense. My FAVORITE thing about this place is my crazy talented stylist - Joy. If you have fine hair - she's your girl. She cuts extra volume into your hair - it's sort of a miracle. My hair feels fuller - like there is somehow more of it now. I get bounce and movement too, which is pretty amazing for fine/limp hair. She isn't scared to do something fun, which has led to some of my most flattering cuts. She recently cut a seriously heavy bang on me....I am getting compliments from every direction. People adore it. That's Joy - she creates miracles! They're at a bargain price too. A cut with her is only $55....um whaaaa! She gives you the hair you would pay any amount for. Gotta check her out!
