Awesome meat and better service. What can I say other than - the best!!

Everything is wonderful quality and the service is even better. We travel from upstate and bring our 2 coolers to fill with Florence meatsto bring home and enjoy. Have not had one thing that we have been disappointed with. The staff is so helpful and will order you anything that you request if they don't normally carry it. Maria is terrific and gets me my beautiful beef cheeks every visit down to The City. Florencio and Aristeo butcher the meat at their butcher blocks with friendly smiles on their faces aand put on a show that even our kids have enjoyed watching for years. Go down and enjoy the experience. You wont regret it.

Best Newport Steaks!!. This place is a gem. The newport steaks are what they are famous for but their sausages and all other meats are amazing as well.

Last of the old-time butchers with the freshest meat around!. I just moved to the West Village a few months ago and lamented at the thought of having to buy meat from a supermarket. I grew up in in Queens in the 70s and 80s where we always had our German butcher. Then I moved to the Upper East Side and the managing butchers at Agata & Valentina, always took care of me with the best cuts of meat. I tried Balducci (14th st- horrible!) and D'Ags (ick!) I thought I would have to just make bi-monthly trips to Agata's for meat. I found FLorence through the internet and decided to give them a try. THE BEST DECISION EVER! I LOVE THIS PLACE! Their Newport steaks, lamb sausages, chicken, rocks!! I cook at home all the time and everyone raves about my cooking. Secret is to always have the best ingredients and now Florence is part of my secret to my yummy meals. And, they are helpful with their advice on the best cuts for your meal and it reminds me of the butcher shop I grew up with. THanks!!!

Editorial Review. This West Village butcher dry ages its meat, and cuts it by hand in front of its customers.

Wow Wee!. I came to this place after reading good things about it, but upon arrival I was skeptical about the quality of the meat since the neighborhood seems kinda ritzy for a meat shop. However, after having just had dinner served with the tenderloin filets I bought, I will definitely come back to Florence Prime Meats for my cuts.

Savory, deep and earthly, the beef was excellent. It has a taste I never had from any other shops (or most restaurants for most matter) I have been to, and I have done my share of shopping for meat. Simply delicious!

A VERY BIG THANK YOU XXXX. SORRY FOR THE UNCONVENTIONAL WAY OF CONTACTING YOU.

Hello my name is Elaine Hall, from The United Kingdom, this might be a bit of a strange thing to ask, but I am trying to trace some of my family that used to have a Butchers shop in Long Island. Late 1940's and 1950's maybe longer I'm not sure. The Name's are George Barrack, married to Lily Hawker (Both from the UK originally) They had a Son also called George Barrack and a daughter called Mildred. I believe Mildred had two children, but I don't know their names. My Mother does have some early photo's which she is going to sort out for me. I don't if your customers are the same as My Grandfathers, but they loved to chat about the past, perhaps one of your customers may know of them. If you could help with any information I would be very grateful.

My very kind regards, and hope that you will be able to help. Elaine Hall.

Call ahead and pick up quickly. We've bought meat from here several times and the quality has been outstanding. The way they craft a roast sirloin has to be seen to be believed! It takes the butcher about 10 minutes to create his masterpiece, so he suggested next time we call ahead to avoid the wait. The service is always friendly and they'll even give you step by step instructions on how best to cook the meat.

Great Local Butcher. Well-stocked, very friendly, very responsive. I walked in one morning, asked for some veal cheeks, and although they didn't have any that second, they were able to get me them within an hour. Then I bought some sausages, lamb shoulder and more when the cheeks arrived. Well worth the visit.
