Average Bagels

If you've never had a read bagel, then these are acceptable. They are better than the push-cart type. .
Bagels on the Square provides better serivce than Murray's Bagels (whose bagels are just bloated to distract you from what they lack - who is Murray anyway? He's never there when I needed to talk to a manager)
and Sarah's on Bleecker (who is trying to make it in the same Murray's vibe - trying to make bagels "koffee house kool". )
Admittedly, the area is suffering from a lack of good bagel shops, but if you are on Carmine Street then venture over to Hudson and Christopher to sample the truly authentic bagel at Hudson Bagels. They are simple and pure the right denisty and flavor and the service is phenomenal. A real taste of an authentic NY.
- Pros: near the west 4th street station
the most cream cheese flavors i can find in NYC
by daddysgirl24
Honestly, in the land where the bagel was born, why don't many NYC bagel places have any cream cheeses to choose from other than plain, veggie, scallion, and lox? Bagels on the Square is like hitting the motherload of flavored cream cheese. I would personally recommend a bagel sandwich w/ turkey & the jalapeno cream cheese, mmm... I purposely don't eat before I go down there just so I have an excuse to eat here.
- Pros: lots of cream cheeses
Worth traveling...

out of the area for a decent bagel that is. There are no good bagel places in the neighborhood and Bagel's on the Square just makes it worth walking somewhere less convenient to buy bagels. These bagels wouldn't even be considered good in Kansas! Their appetizining is shoddy and usually stale not to mention well overpriced(you can go to Balducci's and get a veritable bargain in comparison if you can believe it). The only thing worth getting here are some of their unique cream cheese blends.
- Pros: variety
- Cons: quality, price
