Editorial Review for Subterranean Records – by Nicole Keiper
The Scene
You'll miss this tiny, below-the-sidewalk record shop if you're not really looking. And once you're inside, it's hard not to feel like you're invading someone's basement. Classic or garage rock plays on the house system, and it's fitting. Subterranean is a place you come with a vinyl- or rare-CD-hunting agenda, not to hang about; luckily, you can flank the whole place in about 10 steps.
The Goods
The collection of '50s and '60s vinyl is not to be ignored, and a stock of contemporary vinyl is equally impressive. While small, Subterranean's CD collection is chock-full of rare and import discs. The hidden treasures here, however, are locked away in the glass case up front: a stash of old, rare boxed sets you'd be hard-pressed to find anywhere else.
