Editorial Review for Rebel Rebel – by Nicole Keiper
The Scene
Fans of the Bowie song that is this store's namesake should find Rebel Rebel a shopping dream. The cluttered, narrow room is well-stocked with Brit-rock, from vinyl copies of Bowie's catalogue to the Verve's "A Northern Soul." The proprietors are as beat-friendly as they are Anglophilic, though, making RR a destination for truly eclectic music consumers of the 20- and 30-something variety. The personable clerks will gladly steer you toward something new (stickered CD cases helpfully boast "brilliant new Scottish post-rock," etc.), or something old (the walls are lined with way-back issues of Q and Mixmag.
The Goods
Loads of CDs (the boxes and boxes of used discs can be a goldmine) are located up front, and a treasure trove of new vinyl (from Daft Punk to Mercury Rev) lines the left side of the store. A small selection of music-related books hangs from the front, right wall in plastic bags, and there's a tiny-but-enviable selection of box sets.

Main reason to go here is for the Brit imports. They have the whole range, from new dance music to indie. Owner is very helpful about getting stuff in.
