The Scene – Owner/chef John Philip Greco and his wife Suzanne Marie Lonzar put together their middle names to create the French-sounding moniker for their wholly American restaurant. The space is cozy and welcoming: Large murals depict country landscapes and simple pleasures, while the smell of hearty food lets you know that some of those pleasures await you. – – The Food – This hidden gem charms crowds with a carefully prepared, market-fresh New American menu. Servers start the meal by bringing a kettle full of steamed Prince Edward Island mussels in lightly seasoned…
Fancy for no reason

Yesterday me and my husband went there because of citysearch reviews and thier menu online. When we got there, we found out that they changed the entire menu and made the prices higher. Inspite of this, we ordered mussels and salmon entree. The mussels were okay, nothing special. But the salmon turned out to be horrible, we cook it at home much better even though we are not cooks. So what are they so priced up? To look just fancy?
- Pros: None
- Cons: Poor quality, high prices
Dreadful

May be the worst food I've ever had in NYC (tied with nearby Tartine). I don’t know where the rave reviews come from; perhaps there are two Philip Maries in the area and I just happened to have gone to the wrong one.
Food was bland, poorly prepared and over-priced. My Mediterranean sea bass had a muddy freshwater fish taste (my guess it was tilapia). The fish was uncooked in the middle and was covered in some type of brown sweet sauce - strange combination. I sent it back and got the salmon instead, which too was awful.
The duck breast was too lean and overcooked; tasted like rubber disks, again with an inappropriate sauce. The oysters Rockefeller were soggy with no flavor.
There are many good restaurants in the West Village. I advise you to avoid this one.
- Pros: Location
- Cons: Food, food and food
Lovely setting and elegant food

Just came home from a great meal. We were a group of eight coming together from all over the world and we were all impressed with the preparation and beautiful presentation of the food here. The service was also friendly and attentive. Can't remember when I last had such an all-around good experience.
- Pros: beautiful presentation
