“For those of you who don't enjoy the cozy ambience of a 200 seat dining room, Philip Marie offers an intimate setting which, in my humble opinion, serves as the perfect spot for a date.”
“The pancakes were huge and were very rich due to the milk chocolate.”
“We even had our engagment dinner here where our entire family raved about the unique dinner choices, excellent wine, and family atmosphere.”
“Our server was very helpful and accommodating as we selected our menu and the food, though not the most creative, was very good.”
“What my friend didn't tell me is that on Sundays they have unlimited Bloody Marys for $17, on top of having a great brunch menu.”
“good friend of mine recommended this place for Sunday brunch, so i called and made a reservation a week in advance.”
“The menu is interesting, wine list is super, the service is always pleasant, and I love to take out of towners there for a "real New York bistro" experience.”
“great food in general with the best prices around.”
“We did have to wait a little while (15 mins or so), but the staff was very friendly about it and comped our drinks at the bar.”
Terrible Service. Wouldn't Go Back..
Go somewhere else for New Years!
Food was ok, but there are so many options in NYC, spend your money somewhere that will treat you with respect.
I made a reservation for a large party weeks in advance. After talking to restaurant staff several times prior to arrival, including 4 hours beforehand, I showed up and almost everything I’d confirmed had changed. The MAJOR changes were, the private room I’d been guaranteed was suddenly unavailable and the corkage fee increased from $15/bottle to $20 - $30/bottle. The Manager confirmed that his staff had given me the wrong information, but was unapologetic and refused to honor what was said to me. The private room went to someone willing to pay more money than me. My feeling is that they only told me what they needed to get me there.
They have the best lunch in NYC. The.
I have been coming a few times a week to Philip Marie because they have amazing food, decent prices for lunch, brunch and happy hour. The servers know me by name and it is very comfortable and nice.
The lunch and brunch is very inviting. You will get incredible service by friendly and handsome wait staff. Once I took a long time in the bathroom and my server was concerned about my health. I was very touched.
My favorites are the salmon burger, the grilled cheese, the grilled tuna wrap, sometimes a special on the brunch menu. It is amazing. I also love the blt salad and wrap. Always scrumptious.
Don't miss the happy hour as Philip Marie has wonderful wine by the glass and if you can get there early you will get two glasses for the price of one.
At Philip Marie I am treated like family. All the servers greet me by my name. The food is delish and the atmosphere inviting. (Avoid the bar as some regulars are un friendly. Don't talk to them because they will roll their eyes and act like divas). The staff though are friendly and make you feel at home.
Eat outside on nice evenings as it is a great spot for seeing stars and adorable puppies and cute men. I love the place. My only complaint is they don't have many salad dressings.
They need to add ginger dressing and bleu cheese because they only have italian and ranch which is weird. They should also make cobb salads because they are popular and they have all the ingredients.
I love Philip Marie, it is a cozy and comfy spot in the fashionable meat packing district with reasonable prices and amazing food. If you know about wine you will be very happy with the giant selection of affordable and tasty wine.
food is good ;amazing wine selection for conosuiers. cuisine was refined and well cultured, the chicken was seasoned vibrantly, but slightly dry from being overcooked. however, me being a somewhat of a wine critic in my personal life, have to say that the selection was one of the most comprehensive menus that ive ever experienced from an extensive array of all varieties to quench the pallat of the thirstiest gourmet!
Stay Away. Honestly its not a bad looking place, but behind it all the food does not speak for itself... Mediocre at best and thats being generous... Im not for bashing restaurants but this place is not what it appears to be.. For starters i ordered a Grey Goose on the rocks and it was NOT Grey Goose.. secondly, I ordered the special fish of the day and it smelled like it had been sitting around all day.. Disgusting.. People were nice but I think it was to make up for the quality in food and drinks they were pawning off.. Do not recommend this place.
ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL!!!. Last week my husband & I had the pleasure of dining in the private Wine Room for 2 at Philip Marie. Our custom tailored 5 course menu was exactly what we were looking for at an unbelievable price. Not only was each item we enjoyed cooked to absolute perfection, but our server provided us with the most attentive service we have received in New York City in a very long time. By far, the pork chop was the most delicious I have ever had before in my life. My husband opted for the sizzling lobster, which smelled and tasted of aromas as divine as its presentation. The chef selected wines that were paired with each of our courses, far surpassed any expectation of a "by the glass" wine. Kudos Philip Marie for your unmatched wine selection!! If you are looking for an intimate experience, great food & friendly service this West Village find is undoubtedly the place to be!!
Best restaurant in the West Village.
I had heard about this restaurant in the West Village from friends. Everyone had good things to say so I decided to take my date here. I couldnt have asked for more. The service was on point, the food was fantastic, and the portions were awesome. For being so reasonably priced, I was surprised at the beautiful plates being put in front of us.
Try the roasted beet appetizer with the goat cheese dressing...so creative and delicious. The best part is this wonderful retaurant is in the best neighborhood in NYC...the West Village!
Since then this has been my go-to restaurant in NYC and especially the village. I have sent multiple friends there everyone has been very pleased. Thanks Philip Marie!
Super Disappointing.
We visit our daughter at NYU every other weekend and have enjoyed many terrific eateries for our Sundays lunch/brunch visits. Sadly, Philip Marie is NOT one of them. I think the reviews online are either staged, or out of date since nearly every review gives it the highest rating possible. The restaurant has even blocked the ability for patrons to write reviews on OpenTable, where I made my reservation, which really makes me think that they must be aware that the food stinks and are trying to keep the public from finding out.
The food took a very long time to arrive and my salad and salmon both tasted
Okay. I had read so many amazing reviews of this place. A friend and I went for dinner in March and it was... well, fine. The waiter was not especially friendly (nor was he rude) and the food seemed just slightly above average for a NYC restaurant. Loved the bartender, though!
Fabulous food!. My boyfriend and I went for New Year's Eve and we had an amazing meal. Not only did they have a bunch of options for the pre-fixed menu....the portions were great and not small as I thought they would be. Wonderful place for dinner, small but romantic. Will definitely bring our friends back!
Awesome!.
Anytime a friend comes into town I take them here. THE hospitality is amazing and they really go out of their way to take care of us. I can't tell you exactly what they did for us... because it can't be expected or anticipated that they could do it for everyone...
The food is great and very tastey!!!!!
