I am shocked but not surprised by anyone not liking Fedora. Well, it is not trendy, thank god. It is real. It is clean. The food is good -- not gourmet of course when you consider the prices...but perfectly tasty. Where else can you get a four course meal for under $15? We recently visited (it is a must on our trips to NYC) the restaurant and were delighted to find Fedora herself still there. We asked the waiter what the soup of the day was and she walked up and said "I cooked minnestrone today." Marvelous woman. We got a delicious lamb curry and a chicken curry. Fedora walked up in a few minutes and said "that curry looks dry, here's more sauce." And she makes a good drink! OK, it is a rather plain restaurant. But what other restaurant in NYC has a bonafied Oscar on its shelf? You can ask Fedora how she got it. Don't go here, please, I beg you, if you want glamor, a lot of noise and trendy New Yorkers outshouting each other and spending a ton of money trying to look sophisticated and worldly. Yes, the patrons are generally older,, and maybe even gay (my goodness) but they all have an interesting story to tell. Before it is too late, go here to experience a New York that is fast disappearing, a New York where the owners greet the patrons, cook the food, and are just themselves (in the case of Fedora, that is a LOT).
Pros: atmosphere, real New York, West Village location
Cons: may be hard to find

Don't be shocked. Fedora's fans come to her restaurant for it's old fashioned comfy charm, and to dine with the lady herself. It's not for the trend-seeking or the fashionistas, or those folks looking for an evening of slumming. Its for family, old and new. Enjoy it while you may!
Pros: Fedora, herself
