Greenwich Village's best casual American restaurant, outdoor cafe, and Jazz venue; featuring the rich tones of exposed rafters, inlaid wood floors and a double-story stone fireplace. Multi-level dining allows everyone to have the best seat in the house, whether you relax on richly upholstered banquettes or overlook the entire scene from a cozy booth on the balcony. Beneath an enormous copper hood, you'll find the grand rectangular bar, where cocktails abound and grazers can enjoy the freshest shellfish from the raw bar. Regulars and newcomers alike enjoy live Jazz seven nights a week, as well as during our Jazz Brunches and new weekday Jazz Lunches Monday through Friday. Eight frosty draught beers, an incomparable live entertainment schedule, the finest seafood and steaks, and the best people-watching view make a visit to Garage a must when visiting New York City's West Village. …
I absolutely love this restaurant! It's very busy but the experience is worth it! There is always great live jazz! I love their bloody mary's and sitting outside this time of the year! I was there over the weekend and go back I would say 3x per month at least! Highly recommended.
WORST EXPERIENCE!! UNHELPFUL STAFF. Bad management!!! Unhelpful staff. Charged 20 percent gratuity for a party of TWO.. For this type of establishment that is just soooooooooo lame.. Don't go here. Foods not worth it!
Bad Management.
I made a reservation for brunch four days in advance because I was coming with a party of 9. We waited an hour to be seated, then another hour to be served. In addition, one of the plates came out 15 minutes later than the others. When we asked to speak to the manager to complain, he told us that we had a bad attitude. When my sister asked him his name, he said "Pablo Escobar." Total disrespect for the customer.
I was so embarrassed. I have never been treated so poorly in a restaurant before. I had guests from out of town, and thought this would be a nice way to end the weekend. Such a disappointment.
nice job. Everybody has always been helpful and I would recommend them any time. They are my heroes!
Great Place. I visited Garage last week with my friends. Primarily I go there for the great variety and seafood dishes. The atmosphere was fantastic. They have also a happy hour every Thursday and it was fun.
amazing music, they dont have places like this anymore. great selection of music jazz and blues fare. good selection of wine and just a very chill atmosphere. definitely the best place i can think of to take a date to, check this place.
Classy, refined , tasteful- not a bad joint. definitely a great place for those with a refined pallate, they play jazz and blues, a far cry from the day to day soulja boy and lil wayne we hear on regular rotation at so many bars. if youre a band of drunk fraternity guys looking to get wasted, this place is not recommnded. great for a date or just a night on the town, highly recomended.
If You like Live Music and Entertaining Show. I love Garage, especially the brunch but if you like an elegant night out another great place to go is The Griffin NYC to Michael Fredo's Wednesday night party. They have a great show and an open bar from 8-9:30. Free admission too. Michael Fredo with The Benny Reid Orchestra is a great Jazz/ Ratpack show.
Rushed thru Meal. If you are looking for a place to have a few cocktails and a nice meal, while listening to some nice jazz, this is not the place. Be prepared to be rushed through your meal with the waiter asking you if you need anything every step of the way, acting as if he is being helpful, but it feeling like 'get out, if you have nothing more you need. Glasses were taken as soon as the last sip of wine was finished. They state this on the menu, 2 hour time limit. What's puzzling is that the place wasn't completely full!? Are they anticipating something? Beware, a 18% gratuity was added to our bill, even for a table of 4. When we spoke to the manager about this, he mentioned this was the 'suggested' amount, but this did not appear on the printed bill. I am a New Yorker and I have dined at places that have good ambience and good class and this place and not even as expensive as this. As I look around, I see that the place caters to the tourist. I am embarrassed to think this is also how they treat tourists. Take care in choosing this place if your looking for a nice dining experience...
Love the Jazz. My number 1 pick for late night eating and live jazz. Also good for lunch to grab a table outside and watch the world go by!
