Cafe Espanol - CARMINE STREET...!. This was our first time there 2/10/12. We normally go to Cafe Espanol on Bleeker Street. Awesome restaurant. Food was great, very generous portions and reasonably priced. Fun and friendly staff. Service was very attentive. Look forward to returning again! It has replaced our former number one Spanish (Spain) restaurant. What has made the place special was NOT only the food but the entire wait staff! Victor/waiter and with the two owners(Pablo & Ignacio M.) along with the rest of the staff made it a freindly, festive, party atmosphere and made you feel at home and part of a true "family". My wife ordered a steak which is one of the best she ever had in a non "steak house" setting. The paella I had was excellent. Victor was very welcoming and professional. The noise level is "loud & energetic" to say the least - we like that! The only thing wrong was the rice that came with my wife's steak was very mushy, no problem, we told Victor and he replaced it with green beans and all was fine. He took the step to try it and agreed and notified the chef to get rid of it. The rice with the paella was outstanding along with the paella (Valenciana) itself. The price of half/full pitchers of sangria are TOTALLY well priced compared to other Spanish/Spain restaurants in Manhattan - and taste great. We will start doing birthday parties, dinner parties, holiday dinners (Christmas Eve & New Years Eve) here on a regular basis as we did at the Bleeker Street restaurant. Victor will always be our waiter. We will start spreading the word to all our friends and all my clients to dine here. This is truly a "hidden gem" and probably does not get as many reviews since most people do not know about it due to its location at the end of the block and the cross street leading to the tunnel for New Jersey. It is a great discovery! SPREAD THE WORD!!

The best!. Where do I begin? The service is exceptional. You're like an old friend when you walk in. The bartender, Ramon, has the wine poured before you have taken off your coat. The waiters and the owner, Pablo, are friendly and genuinely glad to have you there. Then there's the food: outstanding! Anything and everything I have eaten there has been amazing, from the papas bravas, to the paella, to the steak, and the croquettas. The price is right, the setting is simple and elegant, the food and wine outstanding, the people warm and charming. It has quickly become my favorite restaurant, the place I want to take everyone I know!

Delicious and honest Spanish food. Top value for your money.. We could not get a table at Blue Ribbon Cafe so entered Cafe Espanol. What a pleasing discovery. Cafe Espanol serves excellent simple and honest Spanish food in gracious quantities. We ate great octopus, good mussels, good fried calamari, excellent (huge) skirt stake and good (huge) grouper fillets. Their potatoes chips are hand cut. All was delicious. The wine is amazingly cheap. The waiters did everything to please us and were so nice. We paid $150 for 6 including one bottle of wine (4 drank), before tip. This restaurant provides top value for your money. We will definitely go back and probably more than once (I have already booked a reservation for 10).

One of my new favorites. My wife and I stumbled upon this place last summer, and we have been going ever since. The food is consistently good, and the service mostly exceptional. I don?t know if it?s just us, but they go out of their way to make us feel special. Last Tuesday was our best experience. We went for the flamenco show they have been advertising, and it did not disappoint. I don?t particularly care for Flamenco, but I thought the dancers were fantastic. It was very interactive?some of the audience were dancing as well! (though I preferred to watch). Even better, they were giving 20% percent off their wine list. Pablo (the owner) suggested a crianza that came out to less than $30! I swear, I have seen the same bottle for over $40. Over the past few months, it?s experiences like this that make this place one of my new favorites.

Best Sangria in the world. This place is amazing. Friendly, courteous service, great and I mean great food, and THE SANGRIA IS OUT OF THIS WORLD. It is the perfect combo of sweet and tart not too alcoholic, fruity but not overbearing, and on and on. This place could seriously become you every Friday favorite.!!! T o sum up , yeah I really like the place.

Lobster Competitors need not apply.... Cafe Espagnol offers New Yorkers tasty seafood at very reasonable prices while filling you up with tastey sangria. If you're looking for non-seafood, go somewhere else, because you'll be dissapointed to order it from Cafe Espagnol. My girlfriend and I made the mistake on our first visit and we paid for it with a horrid dining experience. Our second time around, we did it right by sharing some clams and mussels as appetizers, followed by a shot of Petrone and their Lobster Special. We were glad that we took the regulars' advice on our second visit. We'll DEFINATELY be back again.
