NOT WORTH IT!!!!!. I went to the restaurant to celebrate a friend birthday party and they were not helpful at all. I know that it is hard to get a table when you have a party of 5 or more people but no accommodation at all. The hostess did not help at all. She continued to say give us a minute we are trying to see if a table was going to leave. The manager of the place did not even come to us to excuse himself regarding the the 2 hour wait that we had. I do not have respect for a restaurant that does not have any courtesy with their customers. GOOD LUCK for those who want to try it!!!!

Great place for a cheap drink and some hearty food. My friends and I frequent Benny's sometimes for a quick drink before we start the night and other times for a fun, inexpensive dinner. The margaritas can't be beat at $3 each, the salsa for the complementary chips and salsa is delicious, and the food is very filling. The service is superb for such a low key spot; everyone is extremely friendly, fun, and fast! I would (and do) recommend this place to anyone looking for a quick bite to eat.

But, due to the cramped spacing I would not recommend coming with a party larger than 5. And be aware the wait on the weekend nights can be a bit long. But worth it if you can squeeze in to wait by the bar!

This Place Rocks!. I have always been a fan of Bennys'. I mean $3 Margarita - who can beat that?! I actually got a chance to go for Halloween and had an amazing time! Whoever decorated did a great job and it was just what you needed to get the party started. They have this new salsa - roasted corn----YUMMY! I think I'll check 3rd ave next!!!

Drinks: Beer and shots only. I've never been a margarita fan, but I'm a fiend for a good mojito. I was pleased to see it on the menu. However, it's very unfortunate that Benny's failed miserably in their mojito offering. When i ordered, the bartender told me they were out of mint but she'd see if she could grab some. Now, i've always been of the school of thought that in order to offer menu item a restaurant should A. have ingredients on hand to make it, and B. know how to make it.

I'm appreciative that the bartender ran out for fresh mint but, taking my first sip, it was apparent that having ingredients on hand was not the only issue they had with their menu. For those who don't know, a mojito should be prepared with: white rum, soda, and simple syrup poured over a generous helping of fresh mint muddled with3 or 4 slices of lime and a dash of sour to finish. What i got at benny's was a lime juice and rum cocktail with a couple shreds of mint floating around.

I'm a brutal critic but I do try to make the best of a bad meal or drink before giving up. So i asked the bartender if she could add more simple syrup and sadly I had to explain to her what it was as in her obliviousness to its existence she had failed to add it in the first place. Again what was put in front of me was pitiful, instead of simple syrup I received a couple of sugar packets dissolved into a rocks glass of hot water. In the end I slid my drink back her way explaining that it just didn't work out and asked for a budweiser instead.

So far I've only criticized their preparation and neglected to mention service as service was neglectful in and of itself. While I was choking down my citrus satire of a mojito and trying to get the bartender's attention, she was busy chatting with her two trashed friends about after work plans. I could care less if you've got friends at work but the least you can do is fake paying attention to the two dissatisfied customers dropping 80$ on food sitting 3 feet away from you.

One of my favorite spots in NYC. I wouldn't necessarily call it CHEAP, maybe a little under average, but it's still great. The food is excellent, the margaritas are great and the location and atmosphere are perfect. Right in the heart of greenwich village, this place is the perfect place to go with friends before going out.
