Editorial Review for Pink Teacup – by Kat Kinsman
The Scene
Since 1954, this cozy West Village joint has been serving up solid Southern comfort to plain folks and the slavish celebs whose photos bedeck the warm pink walls.
The Food
It's a hearty soul who can chow through an entire dinner special, and many have been known to toss in the towel after gobbling down the two included sides. Rich mac and cheese and buttery grits may not be kind to the thighs, but they do the soul a world of good. After glimpsing a neighboring table's smothered chicken or succulent barbecued pork, most find a way to soldier on. Finish with bread pudding and leave a better person for it.

I looked in my Zagat rated book for ideas to take a few girl friends who were visiting from Chicago. The Pink Tea Cup sounded perfect as 3 twenty-somethings females wanting a nice place to chat and have brunch in SoHo after visting the famous SATC hotspot, Manolia Market. It sounded girly and quaint enough but when we got there I was soo embarassed!!! The place was so laughable and just plain gross. The only good thing about it was the super cheap prices..other than that..the food was horrible, the coffee was horrible, and the people eating in there were kind of sketchy. So not a typical soho place. If you wanna try it, go solo, you'll be completely embarassed and dissapointed if you attempt to show your friends good eats in NYC by bringing them to this disaster zone!
Pros: Cheap
Cons: Sketchy, people, horrible food, worst coffee

I just had to see what all the "Talk" was about so my hubbie and I went, The place is ultra small!! I had the salmon croquette that tasted like that dry, ground generic tuna that they used to serve in the public school cafeteria, lumped up in a ball and then thrown into some grease. The baked mac and cheese was alright; but the greens were overcooked and tasted like salty spinach!! Trust me when I tell you that I know and cook great soul-food, I learned from the best; 2 Grandmothers, One Creole and one from Aiken, South Carolina!!! This wasn't even close to that kind of good home cookin!!! PLUS THEY DON'T TAKE CREDIT CARDS....STRICTLY CASH!!!!
Pros: NUTHIN
Cons: THE FOOD, NO CREDIT CARDS
