  1. had the papardelle duck and my girlfriend had the pasta carbonara, and sad to say it, but nothing memorable came of the night other than our fun in imitating our servers pitti-ful attitudes.
  2. The wait staff were very friendly, even explaining the specials of the day in detail, the atmosphere was positive.
  3. I've been to Bar Pitti once, and though I liked the ambience & the food, I think the prices are too steep for what you get.
  4. and let's be honest, it's not a fine dining establishment--it's just tasty food served in what i think is a fun and relaxed environment.
  5. I've always found the food at pitti to be decidedly average, but have enjoyed the ambiance all the same.
  6. The atmosphere was so incredibly warm and happy, and a little bit loud.
  7. Food is overrated but the ambiance is nice if you like the owner starng you down to order.
  8. the place was crowded and loud, and the lighting and decor made us feel less like we were in an authentic italian restaurant and more like we were in starbucks.

  3. The food is real simple nice well presented and the wine list very very moderate.
  4. Despite the small place, long lines from 7:00 to 8:30 PM, and a short wine list, Pitti is without any doubt one of (if not THE) best place to dine real Italian food in NYC.

ATROCIOUS and MEAN SERVICE!!!! READ!

by Stockboy

Waiter stated to my date "are you going to have me go over every special", then smirked when she did not want a cocktail. All of this followed by the waiter saying the moment he placed my change down "since you are done we have people waiting". First time this has EVER happened and to boot the food was average at best... STAY AWAY!!! Also, although I was ready to leave as change was placed down I decided to then sip the remainder of my wine as the glass was still half FULL when he said it! Still in shock!

Great Italian Fare Outdoors

by itsbeenvery

I enjoyed my lunch at Bar Pitti, which was not, like other reviews have said, rushed or made uncomfortable by pushy waiters. The waitress serving our table was a gem, who patiently explained all of the dishes and made great recommendations. I like that they have a small permanent menu and then a much more expansive daily specials menu. We ate a bunch of appetizers (highlight: oyster mushrooms, earthy, hearty and rich), and shared some entrees (highlight: veal, pounded super thin and served with lemon and arugula), and had desserts (highlight: my favorite panna cotta ever, so smooth, rich, decadent and the perfect texture), and coffees. The place is cash only, so we felt a little weird paying in a giant stack of 20s, but it is what it is. I really liked this place and hope to come back soon.

Terrible!

by erer123

Not worth the headache. The food was so so, the service was TERRIBLE. It's honestly a place that you would go to if you didn't know any better. Save yourself the trouble, spend a little more money and go to a place that doesn't rush you out and tell you you're not allowed to order an appetizer while you wait for your party to arrive. They treat their customers like sh*t. It's about as authentic as Olive Garden. NEVER AGAIN!

Horrible Service and Food not memorable.

by EmZee

Attempted to dine here on a beautiful Friday evening. Bad idea. Been here before years ago and gave it another shot since my date suggested it tonight. (The food I had last was not memorable) I would not go back again since while I walked into the door to find a host, 2 rude male servers deliberately pushed me coming from Literally, pushed against my back. So I rushed out. This place was chaotic. A bunch of people milling around on the sidewalk waiting to be seated. Definitely not worth it. We just left and went to 10 Downing across the street. Delicious food, excellent attentive service for a beautiful night on the sidewalk. Bar Pitti is definitely over-rated.
