What People Are Saying About Florent Restaurant

In Short – Before the Meatpacking District was uber-cool, this retro diner was a destination for its better-than-it-needs-to-be food and its laid-back but hip scene. The menu includes steak frites, onion soup and black sausage, killer salads and more traditional coffee-shop favorites. Breakfast is served anytime, the prix-fixe brunch is a good bargain and includes a bloody mary or mimosa, and the coffee is strong.

HORRIBLE SERVICE

by raetaylor

I went here on a Monday night for dinner. It was about half full when we walked in so the host sat the two of us at a 4 person table. Then another server came up to us, and with a bit of attitude, asked us whether we were actually seated there or if we seated ourselves. The host seated us there so I didn't understand the attitude. Then a third server came up to us and said that it was too early and he couldn't afford to seat us at a four person table. I was annoyed but thought maybe this place gets packed later, even though it was only Monday night. Let's just say that I counted how many tables were full when we left and they could have given us 10 tables and they would have been fine. Our server had attitude which I didn't appreciate and we were looking for him for 15-20 minutes just to get the check, the tables were cramped and the food was mediocre. I do not recommend this place at all.

The best of the best in all ways. Great Fun

by bobfarock

There is a reason that this wonderful unassuming bistro is alway busy. The food, the service, the warmth and the price.

You decide when you want to eat, and they are open. Just make sure that you can get in because it is always busy. A place where locals just drop in and sit at the counter and those that are not local come in from every where. It does not matter if all you want is a hamburger and french fries or a full three course meal, you can get it and also afford it.

Come in for a good time and great food.

Food Pretty Good, Service not the Best

by anonymousisawoman

We went to have brunch at 3pm on a Saturday. The restaurant was somewhat busy, but not overly crowded. Still, the waiters all had a very rushed vibe. The host asked our party number and sat us, but was less than friendly. Our waiter made up for it though. He was friendly even though he too felt really rushed. It's like they needed more servers or something-- like the ones they had couldn't handle the rush and still maintian a relaxed atmosphere. The food was good. My friend had a grilled chicken and mozarella sandwich and loved her french fries. The sandwich was tasty and had a little kick to it. Their coffee was great (they add cinnamon-- I asked the waiter why it was so good). I had fruit, granola and low fat yogurt. A really small portion for nearly 8 dollars. Overall, it was decent, and their menu had a good selection, but there are other places that I would go first because of the rushed atmosphere and prices, in relation to other diners nearby...

  • Pros: Menu, Coffee
  • Cons: Only accepts cash, service, ambiance, prices of certain items
