WTF should have got my money back. Shockingly TERRIBLE Visited New York this past weekend with a friend and while in the Village did dinner at a restaurant that I remembered from some late party nights with my native new yorker friends. We searched up and down the village looking for something not mexican, italian, or asian so Manatus came into mind. I was embarrassed that It came into mind. The spot was not crowded so I thought great we could eat right away enjoy the nice ambience of the spot . Unfortunately everything about the meal was terrible. The waiter was good and quick but the appetizer calamari was bland and greasy, the marinara sauce watery. The bread basket was stale and foodbankish, The texas burger was aight but the fries and onion rings I ordered were greasy and almost microwave quality (trust Im not a food snob can do grease but this was overthetop). My friend's entree however was the reason I felt compelled to even write this review. He had the stuffed scallop crabmeat with brocolli (raw almost) and chicken soup (which I ate and was below a can of campbells quality) He was so disgusted by the appearance and tastelessness, oily plate he almost needed to go the bathroom and vomit! Horrible the waiter didnt even say anything when he returned and noticed that my friend had barely finished anything on his plate. i guess he must see that type of thing often. Next time i guess you have to be drunk and nearly passed out to want to eat here.

AWFUL. I had dinner there on Thanksgiving and it was worse then hospital food. Cold, bland and punishing. There was also a nasty smell in the restaurant. I advise staying away at all costs.

Terrific deal for plenty of good food .... I've noted a few negative reviews of this restaurant ... and have also noted that they were written by folks who had a one-time (and unfortunately) negative experience with Manatus. Conversely, I've been a patron here for many years and have never come away with negative thoughts about the dining experience. I usually have dinner here and usually bring three to seven friends with me. No one, as yet, has complained about their food, the service, or the ambience ... and the prices are highly competitive, particularly in comparison to other establishments nearby. Portions are always generous.

I love loin of pork and I've never been disappointed; but then, I've learned that it's always best to order anything from a menu and ask that it be cooked to my liking. I do NOT want to eat pork that leaves me looking around for a hmmer and nails so that I may use the meat to tap my shoes! Therefore, I specify that I wish to have the loin of pork cooked so that it is juicy. I also have learned that one should always specify other aspects of the meal, particularly the main course. Don't want the meat drowned in gravy? Ask for the gravy on the side. The wait staff here is always quite good and will try to make certain that your dining experience is to your liking. Manatus is a major bargain and is in a great neighborhood in The West Village. I'm going there tomorrow for brunch, as a matter of fact. Perhaps I'll see you there!

A super bargain in West Village. We love this place and never miss it on our trips to NYC. We head for it as quickly as possible. Gay friendly, excellent service, amiable and fast but not pushy. Very good food, particularly items like their open-faced steak sandwich. Huge salads. Their cole slaw delicious. Too much food stacked on a plate, and you have to eat it all because it is so tasty. Excellent desserts. The outdoor tables are superb for people-watching in the Village. Inside, we once were thrilled to see Glenn Close here enjoying a meal. Their brunch is a huge bargain...a big menu and a good bloody mary plus tasty coffee.

Decent Late Night Delivery, but Overpriced. Decent fare when everything else is closed, I have had no problem with delivery and I order here regularly, but it is considerably more expensive then the other diners inthe area....Burger fries and mozz sticks 25 dollars!
