“Or maybe the convenient location in the heart of the Village with equally convenient late hours.”
“Joe's is THE BEST slice or whole pie anywhere, anytime.”
“This is the best pizza in town, bar none!”
“Old school NYC pizza, still making great pizza all these years.”
“There small little park across the street that is always great to sit in ( Its under construction right now) If you are visiting the city, make sure you hit this place!”
“always hear people raving about their favourite pizza.”
“Also it is small, cramped and the pizza is overpriced.”
“It is the most perfect crust I have ever had and they are very generous with the toppings which are thrown on top last minute.”

If you want the real deal, you have to go to Joe's on Carmine. Thin crust, crispy bottom, delicious sauce and consistent.
In many ways, Joe's is the quintessential New York slice. It's not the best, but it perfectly embodies what a New York slice is supposed to be: thin crust, a small amount of greasy cheese, some acidic sauce, and a paper plate to hold it all up. It doesn't bend or drip or have caper berries. No. It's just Joe's.

One of the most famous pizzeria's in NYC for good reason. Go with a straight up slice of cheese.

It's not the best, but it's the best in this neighborhood for standard NYC slices. (Also the first NYC slice I ever ate!)
Good Slice. Joe's has been around forever and has always been a good place to get a slice. It's not up there with lombardi's, but It's a better than average slice with no wait.
GREAT PIZZA!!!!. I Love the Marguerita Pizza!!! My favorite!!!! I visited Famous Joe's Pizza last week and I had a great time. Nice environment.
best pizza Ive tasted. was in the village and stopped at numero 28 and joes. Joes was a little bit better, just my opinion because I like a more traditional pie. the sauce was excellent, although numero 28's is a bit better. The cheese and crust spectacular, and only 2.50 a slice. and the slices are huge.
The best pizza in the village. I used to live upstairs and eat here at least a few times each week. Oscar, Sam, and the rest of the crew at Joe's are the best Pizza men in New York. Period. Yes... I miss Joe's on the corner too, but the pizza still tastes the same!
EH. The place was a pigsty and the pizza was mediocre. For being so famous, this place is HIGHLY overrated. Will not be back!
Great Pie!. Thin crust, great sauce, just the right amount of cheese. $2.50 a slice $20.00 a pie, cash only. Best pizza in the village.
Good Pizza... Still up in the Air about the Best Anywhere thing though.... Hmmm how do i explain Joe's... First i'll say its Good!! sometimes REALLY GOOD, and thats the thing, sometimes its better then others... Basically, i only ever seen plain, pepperoni, and fresh mozzarella .. those are your basic options... which isn't bad... sometimes the plain slice is amazing... sometimes its average... I'm just speaking honestly... Advice i'll tell you, Don't let them serve you a lukewarm/cold slice!!!! They will try!! When they are feeling themselves and think that they are turning out slices really fast, or are busy, they won't take the time out to heat up your slice... THEY AREN'T GOOD LUKEWARM... tell them put it in the oven or wait for the fresh pie to come out!! PLEASE!! I BEG YOU! Especially on a fresh mozzarella.. Next thing i'll say is, try some other slices other places... they beat most places, but not all the time... Still they make good slices...
rude rude rude. I wanted to try this place, called and placed an order and the price was so high, and the man on the phone literally cussed me out when I called to cancel my order. I will not be dining there ever again.
Best Slice of Pizza in NYC. I've been to Ray's on Price Street, and while that is a great slice, Joe's takes the cake on the best slice. Thin Crust, great sause and the perfect amount of cheese. I love it!!
Best in NYC, but not New Haven!.
Joe's is certainly the best slice in NYC, and one of the few places in the city that knows how to cook a pizza properly. The crust is thin enough that it burns just a bit on the bottom, and the cheese doesn't suffocate the sauce like those crappy superworldfamous double famous original ben's excuse for real Apizza. Maybe Joe's uses Pecorino Romano on top, who knows.
But why bother keeping tabs on New York pizza, why not review the BEST pizza in the world? If you grew up on the Connecticut shoreline anywhere between Bridgeport and Mystic, you know that New York is NOT the pizza capital of the world... and far from it!
Real Apizza diners will agree that New Haven, Connecticut boasts the best pie in the world. Wooster Street: Pepe's, Sally's (Frank Sinatra's fave) and Modern are the Big 3, and all absolutely SUBLIME (grease included, pizza is NOT a health food!). To prove it, Just go to the worst pizzeria in the smallest town within 30 miles of New Haven - Guaranteed, your pie will have far more class than 99.9% of all these "Five Star" spots in the big apple.
Here's a few more small-town CT joints that put shame to any N.Y. excuse-for-a-pie:
Marco Pizzeria in Branford, CT (like a little pepe's away from pepe's. sometimes better!)
Bobby's Appiza in North Branford, CT (killer pepperoni. this pizza will be the death of my father someday)
Grand Apizza in Clinton, CT (population 13,500 vs 19 million in NYC? my little town has 8 or 9 pizza places in it's 17.4 square miles, and they're all way above NYC standards)
And by the way, CT pizza eaters are smart: why buy a slice or two when you can have 8? COLD PIZZA = God. laugh, but you know it's true.
