Aptly named for its basement setup, this bar rocks with the right tunes, lots of drunken NYU students and cheesy year-round Christmas lights. Reasonable prices and specials abound; however, the mixed drinks are small, and the beer is often served in warm mugs. That old faithful, "What's your major?" is often bandied about, and video games please the youngish crowd.

Me and my friends always stop by this place when we are in the city. The crowd is very friendly, there is always a heated beer pong game going on, and the guys to girls ratio is mostly even.

THIS PLACE HAS THE BEST WINGS IN THE CITY BY FAR. I WOULD KNOW. I AM THE CHICKEN KING AND HAVE BEEN TO EVERY WING JOINT IN THE CITY. DRINK SPECIALS EVERY NIGHT. PRICES ARE SICK CHEAP. CAN'T MISS ON ANY NIGHT OF THE WEEK. THEY ALSO GET ANY SPORTING EVENT YOU'RE LOOKING FOR. MMMMMMMMM CHICKEN AND SPORTS MMMMMMMMMMMM

I had my birthday party at Down the Hatch last night and I can honestly say it was one of the best nights of my life. My friends have been emailing me all morning, telling me how much fun they had. Thank you so much for an amazing birthday, Down the Hatch!
