Editorial Review for Bookleaves – by Karen Rosenberg
The Scene
Tucked in among the tree-lined townhouses of the West Village, this relatively spartan store rewards spontaneous afternoon strollers who don't mind patiently scanning the shelves until something jumps out. That said, Bookleaves is a step up from the randomness of a street vendor or a garage sale; titles are neatly categorized and in fairly good condition.
The Goods
Graduate students, take heed: Academia is well represented here, particularly the social sciences. There's even a small section on music history and theory, right above a shelf of records. If all else fails, you're sure to find a classic, or something useful in the reference book section. Keep an eye out for the small box near the entrance: The contents are free. In this city, that's nothing short of a miracle.

This book store is a rare find these days. Quiet and packed with books, without the oppressive crowding or cramped aisles of a behemoth like the Strand. You won't find everything you're looking for here, but you'll almost always come upon something you wouldn't be likely to find anywhere else.
Pros: Eclectic collection, Good prices
Cons: Small selection
