The Scene – When Heller Gallery opened in Soho circa 1973, studio glass artists were just beginning to firm up their presence in the international art world. When the space migrated northwest 25 years later, glass was officially a bona fide art form (as opposed to a utilitarian craft). Heller's three rooms are spacious and brightly lit, standard gallery decor perhaps but crucial when glass is on display as white walls and track lighting illuminate the finer qualities of the medium.
