Had not been to a hairdresser for a year, and my thinning middle-aged hair was long and graying and out of control (was always wearing it up in a bun). Kate was great; did not make me feel middle-aged, and gave me a transforming cut and color. It's so easy; I can just wash it and run (haven't had a bun since). I don't like uptown glitzy snooty salons, and this couldn't be more different -- friendly, funky, and with great work. I will definitely be going back.

kate is phenomenal - listens to what you say, fast, relaxed, and improvisational in the best possible way. she is truly collaborative and really trustworthy. if i go in with an idea, she is quick to either agree, disagree, or offer modifications... in any case she is always right. even when she is supposedly done, she is always willing to tweak things if you aren't thrilled with the end result. the entire staff is funny and quick and "gets it", so to speak. they are totally hip without being pretentious. every time i leave, i take a stack of cards to pass out - best place i have found in new york.
