One of the West Village's many intimate cubbyhole theater spaces.. In Short Located in a former meeting hall above an Episcopalian church, the former Theatre Off Park is suitable for simple productions. The 90 seats are inclined so everyone has a view of the elevated stage. Rattlestick Productions, the resident company, devotes itself to fostering new writers by pairing each new production (always a new work) with an established figure in the theater. Past mentors have included Terrence McNally, Olympia Dukakis and Craig Lucas.

I found their 2001 tribute to playwright Harry Kondoleon enormously eye-opening--the appearance of the brilliant Amy Sedaris (along with Martha Plimpton) in "Play Yourself" turned me onto it. "Saved or Destroyed" was also an excellent production.
