Editorial Review for Fat Cat – by Katie Heffernan
In Short
This is the sort of pool hall that fables are made of--cheap and gritty and cool. There's a communal feel in the low-ceilinged, well-worn basement, in the spacious sprawl of 14 tables, pingpong behind netted cages, and scattered chess and Scrabble players. Low-key locals and practicing sharks down $2 Pabst and other bargain-priced brews, closing the night with jazz or comedy on rows of comfy couches in the offshoot performance room.

Not for the sensitive! this place is made for REAL people who REALLY want to have fun. They have everything you could want to do and all for a great price. The bartenders have great suggestions for their beers or wines. Major bummer they don't have spirits but the live jazz and over all cheap entertainment makes this one of the best hangouts in the city. The only place like it! I'm glad I found It! Also, (my favourite part about this place!) they give you a letter card when you open a tab so that only you and your guest can put things on your tab by flashing your card, makes you feel super safe about keeping an open tab. Plus the music adds to the boho feel of the place. Who is the mastermind behind this?!
Pros: Music, games and atmosphere!
Cons: ...

The fat cat is a great place to come and relax, any time of the day or night, and any day of the week. I haven't found anywhere else where you can play ping pong or fusball to live jazz, while drinking a great pint of beer (the Stones rocks - no pun intended). It's casual, completely attitude free, and just plain good fun. It's the bar equivelant of your favorite pair of jeans.
Pros: Ping pong, ping pong, jazz, ping pong, ping pong.
Cons: Can get very busy.
