New Bartenders ASAP!.
I walked in here on a Saturday night (May 19th, 2012 around 1:00am) and obviously it was very crowded.
The bartenders (Male and Female) were counting money and a lot of it. If you know how to maintain a cash register these too fools wouldnt have to both do it at the same time but after they counted money for about 10 minutes. 4 people that walked in behind me waiting for the bartenders to finish, had walked out. I waited.
After they were done he started to collect cups instead of serve customers that needed a drink. He came towards me and I smiled and he proceeded to not ask me what I want but to collect cups. I said "May I have a drink please?" He then decided to tell me "WELL CANT YOU SEE I AM BUSY?" EXCUSE ME? I said "I have been waiting here for a long time". I said "no problem. I will go else where." He said "Then get out. BYE"
What kind of customer service is that?
A simple "Hang on one sec, I will be right with you, would have been perfect!"
In this economy where people are looking and needing jobs, unprofessionals like the male bartender I encountered remain with jobs. If its that busy you need a bar back honey! OR what I would have done was went from one end of the bar to the other and made everyone drinks, THEN collected any dirty cups. I also wouldnt be counting money then making drinks. Money is dirty. You are touching fruit all night. This bar needs two GOOD bartenders, a manager to count the money and keep an eye out for the place, and a bar back to collect and wash all cups/ dishes.
I am a bar hopper! I have been since the age of 22. This by far is the worst bartender I have ever encountered in my life. I use to travel a lot and been to many different states and most bartenders are nice and sweet. He was a C****!
If you need a bartender CUBBYHOLE, contact me and I will come work.
PS> The bar one block up and make a turn to the right next to the corner store, ANOTHER disaster. Can you believe that the woman bartender charged me 12 bucks and I gave her 15 and she did not give me my change. I asked her if I had paid her to remind her and she said YES THANK YOU! I have to drive by there to get the address of that place and write a review about them too.... SMH!!!!!
bar keep nicer than Houston's most pop les bar.. I love the ceiling! I'm not into booshe. The bartenders were nicer than the ones back home in the most popular lesbian bar in Houston Tx.
FaBBBBBBBBBBBulus. This place is great if your looking to soak up local flavor. We were out or towners looking for a good girl bar to grab a drink or two or 10 so we stop by Monster (very friendly door man) in Greenich Village and he pointed us in the direction of two bars 1. Heneriettas Hudson and 2. Cubby Hole. After walking about 8 block we found Henriettas and yep you guessed it, it was kareoke night. Lame I know. We left there after we couldnt find a seat or get a drink and headed to Cubby Hole. After a ten minute walk we found it easily. The place doesnt seem like much at first. After we approached the bar and met the very friendly bartender who scoffed at our age we had a seat at an empty table in front of the bar and truly enjoyed the rest of the night. The name of the joint emplies its space...cubby---hole. Literaly the place is as big as a hotel room, but I the atmosphere is great. Friendly locals jamming to the hottest beats via a prepaid jukebox (no dj). The lack of dj was fine with us because it equated to a no cover charge for my long time babe and me. In a city where tipping is obiligitory and the cost of everthing is sky high the free entry was a big bonus. The Cubby Hole was the exclamation point on our trip to NYC. We hop on the the #1 subway, got of at Greenich Village walked a few block and met a really cool guy, hung out at a great bar, and had an awesome time. Don't miss the Cubby Hole. A New York City treasure.
Great Place. This bar is wonderful because the staff makes you feel like home and the patrons are just fun. In my life I am always taken to the "hot" spaces but I always look forward to coming here.
yeeeeeha!. Finally a female bartender on Thurs....It's the only night i get to go so forgive me for being excited, it's nice to be served by another lesbian, well i think she's a lesbian! You cannot go wrong with this bar. You meet people from all over the country. Greatness!
One of the best bars in NYC.
My boyfriend and I first came here when we had a lesbian friend in town, a few months ago, and we love it. Great vibe, energy, and friendly staff. I don't know what annabellee is talking about. Lisa is one of the nicest bartenders and makes everyone feel welcome, and judging from the amount of girls that flock around her, a pretty popular one too.
The only negative is on the weekends, when it can get uncomfortably crowded.
Finally a friendly lesbian bartender.....
One thing that the lesbian community has been missing for years is a friendly (female) bartender and the Cubbyhole seems to have found one! The male bartenders i love - i'm secretly in love with Christophe! Blonde and very friendly, not sure of her name (she's there on tue nights) but it's refreshing to see someone enjoy what they do.
Congratulations Cubbyhole!
Cool Cubby. Cubby is a great bar with a relaxed and very friendly atmosphere - easy to go to by yourself and meet some new friends. Only consistent drawback is depressed bartender Lisa who can be quite rude - as a former bartender clear burnout is in effect - c'ome on cubby and hire someone with a personalty, looks and some cool drink skills - you'll be packed even more!! All in all of course a cool, relaxed place to feel very comfortable among other friendly patrons and some cool decor!
Great bar.....
I was shocked when i read the last review of what is now one of my favourite bars in NYC and i could not disagree more. There is a reason why the bar is packed on a tue night, (1) because the margaritas are good. (2) they're $2.00! - where does that happen! (3) the bartenders are extremely friendly and wouldn't know how to give someone attitute.... So clearly that person had a bad day and judged everyone they came in contact with!
MOVING ON, i went last monday for the first time for my birthday and the blonde bartender payed a lot of attention to us, gave us delicious shots and made sure we were comfortable had a great time. She even stayed after her shift gave us pizza and danced with us! LONG LIVE THE CUBBYHOLE!
Horrible. the $2 dollar margaritas were awful! the place stinks. the crowd was of obnoxious people, losers. the blonde bartender had some attitude, who needs an old chick to tend bar anyway? the place is simply dirty. ugly people, ugly bartender, ugly bar. the cubbyhole in one word? loserville.
