In Short
Behind the easy-to-miss storefront lies a quaint space in which lemon-toned walls, exposed brick and warm wooden trim deliver more atmosphere than the average falafel joint. The menu offers a Grand Bazaar's worth of Turkey's culinary riches, from the spot's signature lahmacun (pita pizzas) and pide (stuffed breads) to an enormous array of meze, appetizers hot and cold. Still hungry? Explore a wealth of kebabs, a luxury of lamb and surplus of seafood dishes like whole orata.

At our visit, our reservations were ready when we arrived. The wait staff was courteous and professional and attended to our needs. The menu offers a wide variety of dishes, including vegan choices, lamb, beef, chicken and seafood. A nice bread basket is served. We enjoyed the falafel with a tehini sauce which was excellent. A flavorful rice pilaf accompanied our entrees. Our entrees were varied and included lamb shish kebab. Portion sizes were reasonable. My only regret was that I could not try more of the dishes on the menu, which as they circled our table heading elsewhere made me wish I could be someone's guest for dinner!

I really liked my experience at Ali Baba. The place is small and cozy and the staff is friendly. I'm a vegetarian so I am a big fan of Turkish. I was excited to find another gem in the city! The falafel is fantastic, as is the hummus and pita. My one complaint is that it was pricey. I'm used to paying a lot less than $17 for a falafel platter that is still pretty awesome! But other than that, I definitely recommend this place.
