DO NOT USE PAVILLION AGENCY.
I never write reviews, however I felt strongly enough about my experience with Pavillion to do so here. I can not stress enough how strongly I feel about getting the word out regarding this place.
I am a college-educated female, and I was looking for a part-time babysitting position through Pavillion. The agent I met with, and eventually found a position through, is named Tina Gellashvilli. Upon entering the offices I was a bit hesitant, because it resembles a sweat-shop. Very dirty office cubes, ripped carpeting, etc. It was not professional at all, and I was a bit alarmed.
I met with Tina, and to put it as directly as possible: I could tell immediatly that she was phony and not interested in placing me with a family that might be the best match for me, but rather with one that would make her (and Pavillion) the most money. She saw that I was college educated, criminal background free, and ready to start working. She scheduled an interview for me the very next day, and although I didn't fully trust Tina's intentions, I went anyway to see how it would go.
The interview went very well, and I took the position. I found out later on, however that Tina had told my employer one price for hiring me and then when I was hired, charged her significantly more. I did not stay in this position long, however, as the woman I decided to work with was very unstable and I felt, at times, that my safety was in quesiton. When I informed Tina that I would not be staying, she was furious with me and told me that this family was a very prestigious family in NYC and that I would be doing harm to myself in leaving. What she actually meant was, "If you leave this job, I will lose the money."
Without writing a novel, I just want you to know that a Pavillion Agency is a horrendous agency to work FOR and, from what I hear from others, to find a nanny through. They screen the potential nannies, however do no screening of the families they place the nannies with. As a result, I was put in a position in which I felt unsafe. A Pavillion Agency is not concerned, what-so-ever, with the quality of service they provide but rather with how much money they can make. From the office to the sleezy agent to the scary family I was place with...the whole experience was awful.
So please, do not work with this agency. There are so many other agencies in the city to work with that provide excellent service to both their candidates and the families they serve. This place is a chop-shop, not a placement agency for household services.
BEWARE.
