A giant porterhouse is available for two and arrives…

Editor's Tips

What to Drink:
In addition to the obligatory $1,400 bottle of Chateau Petrus, the American red-heavy wine list also boasts many quality bottles in the $30 range. The wines by the glass are excellent.

Worst steak, worst service in NYC.

by SBVOnyc

A work associate picked the place for a dinner on a Wednesday night. I've been to many of the best steakhouses in NYC but never been here. I ordered the filet and it was by far the WORST steak I've had in 12 years in NYC. It was so over cooked that it tasted like cardboard.

To make it worse, the waiter was horrible. In addition to bumping my chair every time he walked by, he seemed not to care that our drinks were always empty. We had to ask at least three times to get a glass of water and a new beer. When they finally came to clear the table, I pointed out that I only ate 1/2 my steak because it was so overcooked it was horrible, he actually laughed and just walked away! Do NOT Go Here!

OVER RATED

by Idontlie

EVEN IF YOU WANT TO ENJOY THE ATMOSPHERE AND CANNOT EAT CERTAIN THINGS ON THE MENU, THE CHEF SAID HES NOT PREPARED TO VEER OFF HIS MENU. IN THE MEANTIME, THE CHEF FIVE MINUTES LATER IS GREETING A TABLE AND SPENDS ABOUT 15 MINUTES TALKING WITH THEM. YOU FEEL YOU ARE TOO IMPORTANT TO MAKE A PIECE OF GRILLED CHICKEN...GIMME A BREAK...DID YOU OR DID YOU NOT JUST REOPEN YOUR DOORS BECAUSE OF BAD MANAGEMENT. DON'T DISCRIMINATE PEOPLE MR. CULINARY CHEF. THE GUYS ON THE STREET, ESPECIALLY THE GYROS HAVE A FRIGGIN LINE DOWN THE BLOCK AND WE SPENT 200.00 DOLLARS NOT WORTH IT!!!!!!

  • Pros: GRAND CENTRAL STATION
  • Cons: BAD SERVICE/DISCRIMINATORY TOWARDS PEOPLE WITH ALLERGIES

My worst experience in NYC ever

by Anonymous025

A group of my friends recently went to MJ's for dinner as part of restaurant week. After sitting down, we were informed that the restaurant does not participate in restaurant week for dinner but that they are aware that the website says they do. We were told there is nothing they could do but when we almost left, they offered to give us a special menu- but not without a couple of snide comments from the waiter. At that point, we should have left because we were treated horribly throughout the meal. My friend who has Celiac disease was treated like a complete inconvenience to the restaurant and not offered any substitutes that she could eat. She had never been treated so badly at a restaurant. It was impossible to enjoy any of the meal when we were being treated so horribly.

We are all in our mid-twenties and while we were going out for restaurant week, we would have been more than willing to spend a large sum of money on a great meal and an enjoyable experience. It is a shame that a well-established (though mostly empty) restaurant like MJ's felt the need to belittle us and act so unprofessional in an understandbly awkward situation. Restaurant week is supposed to allow New Yorkers to enjoy the great restaurants that the city offers at an afforable price, but in this case, MJ's went out of their way to make us feel unwelcome.

I am certain that no one at our table will ever go back there, and I advise everyone to avoid it.
