Outstanding dinner with excellent service. I took my friend here for her birthday. We had an outstanding dinner with excellent service. We had reservations and it wasn't terribly crowded. We were seated immediately. The Scampi and Crabmeat Cocktail were amazing. Each of our fish entrees was excellent. The service was generally attentive and helpful. We both remarked that we hadn't seen a menu recently that had as many appealing offerings. I highly recommend this restaurant.

great find -- if someone tells you about it!. Clearly, someone has to tell you about a great restaurant on 43rd Street between 2nd and 3rd. Unless, you're going to park your car or rent one, very little reason to be on that block except for Pietro's.

The food is fabulous and arguably one of the best steaks in New York. Do not forget to try the chopped salad and, not on the menu but outrageous, the Edo potato a la Carlos -- a baked potato with chives, oil and vinegar.

Finally, the sauted clams cannot be beat!

Avoid this restaurant. What a disappointing dinner. This is clearly a place that was good in the 1960's when Italian restaurants were your simply veal and chicken parmigiano. I have eaten in many great Italian restaurants and this is definitely not one of them. I ordered dover sole which was offered as a dried, totally tasteless piece of fish. My husband's veal tasted like it was straight out of a frozen box. I realized then, since the dishes came out so fast that I may not have been far from wrong. I am still totally amazed that this restaurant continues to attract patrons.

Don't go here!. At first, I thought the service was good but boy I was wrong! I called the restaurant the next day to speak to the manager/owner to let him know that I was not happy with the food especially after we paid an arm and a leg for it. My party expected the food to be great. He was SO RUDE to me! He said that "Oh, so the cost of food was the issue". I couldn't believe what he was saying. The food was overpriced and it was average at best. The place has been there since 1932, I think its time to call it quits! Definitely NOT WORTH!!

Editorial Review by Citysearch Editors. Top-tier steakhouse since 1932 with old-school club atmosphere offers Italian-leaning menu of steaks, seafood and veal alongside fine wines.

Great Steakhouses don't need Big Names... In my opinion, Pietro's seasons and cooks their steaks perfectly. Order a side of fried onions, or if you prefer pasta, order the homemade gnocchi. They will melt in your mouth. Just about anything you order is great.

Only the Best. The NY strip steak was remarkable and after I conquered this fine portion of meat, my belly was over-satisfied with the highly recommended Tira-Misu. This type of excellent tasting food is common thoughout the city, but what sets Pietro's apart is the friendly service.

Try the steak. This place came highly recommened by an old time New Yorker. Not sure if I agree with the opinion. The chop salad was wonderful, the wine was wonderful, the waiter was great, but the main course was a bit of a let down. I had the veal chop and it was dry, but the side dish of spinach was great. The portions were great, but hard to swallow without a glass of water or wine to moisten my mouth. Next time, I'll try a steak.
