great experience. The dinner was fresh and delicious. We didnt have a reseration and yet only waited a half hour. The meal was a bit pricey yet well worth it. I would go back.

Very strange experience with bill. I ate at this restaurant with a friend and the food was good but when the bill came it was for well over $200. When I asked why the bill was so high they had to look into it. After a long time, they told me that my bill had "married" another person's bill and I was being charged for both. WTF? My bill "married" another person's bill??? They said that this happened occasionally. Honestly, I wonder how honest they are. This has NEVER Happened to me in another restaurant. "Oh - sorry - your bill married another table's bill." Right!

Great seafood. I have eaten in Dock's restaurant since they opened in the 80's. It always has been one of my favorite restaurants. I thought it was time to write something. The seafood is always fresh and the service is really good. I highly recommend you try it.

Don't even think about it!!!. I work in a restaurant business. Actually I own a few restaurants in Manhattan. So usually I'd never complain about anything since I know it's a tough business.

Have been going to Docks for a few years now sitting at the bar enjoy their oysters at happy hours. But never really get a chance to sit down for a proper dinner till today and it was HORRIBLE!

The server Pepe M. only shown up 3 times to take the order, drop off our drinks and drop off the check. Other than that the busser and the runner took care of us. The mussels was not fresh and since I couldn't find my server I just gave up on it and didn't bother to complain and had only a couple. Food were not good at all.

We spent over $120 for 2 and nothing was good!!! We just couldn't wait to leave and it took us over 20 minutes to find our server so that we could pay and leave.

The sever came back to drop the check and had the guts to asked " no coffee no desert? ".

I felt bad since I used to be a server myself in college so instead of giving him no tip and complain with his manager. I gave him 10% since after all the runner and the busser deserve something. I will never go there and again and will tell all my friends not to go there as well!!!

Not a Happy Place. I love oysters and in every city I travel to, I try to find the ultimate spot. The $1 oysters are a bargain but I'd rather pay more to be in an an establishment were the staff seems at least a little happy. I still came back the next day for lunch and heard the owner yelling at a waitress in front of the customers in a way that makes me wonder why anyone would want to work there and now I know why the staff is so miserable. I ordered some items off the menu and thought my food was flavorless and over-priced.

One of the worst restaurants in NY. I've been to my fair share of restaurants in NY, and this is by far the worst. We went for dinner and got typical seafood (calamari, seafood pasta, chocolate cake) and all of it was horrible. It wasn't that the food wasn't fresh... it was just made poorly. How can a seafood restaurant mess up on calamari? It was so bad that every time I pass the restaurant, I have to comment on how bad it is.

Quality seafood, good value for the money. great service. convenient but expensive parking,. My family and I have frequented Docks in Midtown Manhattan site for several years now never being disappointed by the service nor the quality of the seafood served. The restaurant gives good value for the money. The waiters and staff are friendly and on the ball. Seating patrons seems to be "tenseful" unless area is specifically requested. Once you get seated the scene ameliorates.

Great Restaurant - Docks Oyster Bar. I am passionate about fish. I have eaten fish all over the world. My most favoriate fish restaurant in the world is Docks Oyster Bar on 3rd Ave. I have eaten there for 18 years, consistently, and have never had a bad experience. I have had their sushi, fresh tuna salad and I love their cherry stone clams. Their NY strip steak is the best, along with all of their side orders. The clam chowder is the best, as well as the extraordinary shrimp cocktail. Everything I have had has been top knotch, along with the excellence of their staff. I can not say this about any other restaurant that I have dined at in NYC. I lived in NYC for 27 years, and this is the best restaurant that offers the best fish value. Five years ago, I moved to CT and I still can't find the same fish value that Docks offers.

There are some negative reviews listed here about this place. I guess a restaurant can have an off night every so often, but I have never had one in decades of dining at Docks. It is a good, honest fish value. The NY strip is superb, and I bring one back for my wife every time I'm in NY. I've eaten at scores of NY restaurants. This one has won my heart.

Ahh, it's ok. This restaurant is always packed...To be honest with you, I really don't get it. The food is mediocre and it is quite pricey. The service was excellent tho. I just don't see what the fuss is about.

Worst service, seafood sub-par, management especially bad. We went to Dock's while in the city on business and expected upscale dining with delicious seafood. We read about this place on another site and I liked the description that it gave. Well it turned out to be the worst experience in a restaurant in NYC ever! (and granted we are in our 50s and are here often.) Our waiter was very slow to bring us anything and we only saw him twice during the night, once to take our order and once to bring the drinks. Our food took 45 minutes and it wasn't even crowded. Once it arrived the food was dry and tasteless, and the special request for no sauce that my wife made was ignored, which to her made the plate inedible. We called over another waiter to speak to the manager and when she came over she was rude, uncaring, and insinuated that if we had made a request in the first place it would have been done for us, and flat-out said 'I'm not altering the bill', which we didn't even ask her to do. We just wanted our food prepared correctly as we were starving at that point. She was young and obviously didn't care what we had to say. She was so callous and moody that we decided it wasn't worth it, and just paid and left. We didn't leave a tip and mentioned to the hostess on our way out how poor our meal/service was. She was the only one who apologized or seemed concerned all night.
