Do not respond to their listings.
Same story as nyhiker50, except I'm entry level.. I responded to a posting on Monster and was invited in for an interview after the original phone interview.
The positions posted to sites are unavailable (automatic postings)-- confirmed by the recruiter.
I followed up weekly for over 3 months as per her instructions to be matched with "there are no positions that fit your profile."
The recruiting industry most certainly needs regulation.

You will be forgotten. I was called in and interviewed and never was there a mention of the job I was called in for. I am constantly told that I am not a good fit every time I call. I believe that they, like other agencies are discriminating against the over 50's. If you go there you are probably wasting your time. The recruiting industry definitely needs regulation since most of them are nasty.
