Lord & Taylor is a very classy store. Everything in L&T spells elegance. Such a pleasure shopping there or if just browsing is your thing, that's the place to go. This place is super spotless and neat. That the sales people bend over backwards to help is a huge plus. L&T is never a "hit or miss". It is guaranteed to always be a "hit". They carry a fine selection of everything! From fine jewelry on the first floor to their newly added household furnishings on the top floor. Even their Xmas decorations for your tree are exquisite and yet affordable. Some items may be pricey, but they sure are worth it! L&T = quality and taste.

Not Your Grandma’s Store Anymore!

Lord & Taylor… Just hearing that name, I’m instantly transported to the 1980’s of my childhood, and memories of my cashmere sweater-collecting grandmother in Minnesota, a walking 1950’s time piece herself, sea-green 67’ Buick she refused to trade in and all. To her, Lord & Taylor meant quality and sophistication, style and grace. While all the major department stores have taken hits over the years, with the rise of independent retailers like Old Navy, H & M and Target and such, Lord & Taylor more than any store struggled to stay relevant. Well, they’re still around, and while they still cater to an older, more mature set of shoppers, they have begun reaching out to a new demographic, with trendy styles galore, and lots of coupons and discounts, and sometimes even sale flyers than you can find in your local newspapers or circulars. That being said, with a name like Lord & Taylor, one cannot signify “cheap”. The name still stands for elegance… they have 16 pages worth of cocktail dresses alone on their website (and the cheapest ones on there start at $50… and average more like $200)! Their only store in NYC is located- where else, on Fifth Avenue. They have every major fashion designer’s line there!

WOnderful shopping experience.

Lord and Taylor is truly a unique shopping experience. I dread going shopping or going to dreadful time consuming stores. It is rarely crowded. The service is usually a personalized shopping experience (which does not exist in Macys) The associates are always helpful, respectful and friendly. The store is always immaculate. Associates are helpful enough to place orders from other L&T locations as well. I found the perfect dress, but did not have the size I needed on stock in this location. My sales associate located and ordered the dress for me from another location. I would never expect any service from other dept stores, simply an attitude. I highly recommend L&T.

Lord and Taylor has completely updated their designers and have great hip new designers, for a much younger crowd, expanding the target market. The store is still as classy as it ever was, but they have fantastic prices and great options to choose from. Some of my favorites are Michael Kors, Ellen Tracy, Diesel, Paper Denim, Energie Steven, and of course, the classics like Polo and Context. Not only are the designers great, and the store is spotless, the employees are pleasant, not pushy, and their personal shopping department is the best in NYC.

Lord and Taylor recently went under new management, hence their new outlook on fashion. They are hosting their huge Friends and Family event in the store this weekend through Sunday and you can download their coupon on the website (please see below). The coupon gives you 20% off your purchase now through Monday, and if you can't make it into the store, the updated website is offering great promos right now as well, with free shipping on orders above $150. They have everything you could want for your Holiday Shopping list, even their children's department is great with designers like Ralph Lauren, Pumpkin Patch, Lily Pulitzer . . . you just simply can not go wrong with the quality of the clothes and home goods at Lord and Taylor, plus they have a great central location in NYC right on Fifth Avenue! Shop til you drop

I'm glad there are still stores like Lord and Taylor. It has that hometown feel of a dept store, however it's filled with a terrific selection of merchandise. I especially like where it's located. Busy, but not so packed that you dread going there. They have really good specials and their accesories dept. for women is outstanding. I bought some great mother's day gifts and like they are fully staffed and never pushy. Bloomies and Bergdorf's are very pushy. Highly Recommend.
