“Prices are reasonable for a midtown Manhattan location.”
“If you're in the mood for a steak, don't be afraid to try it here just because it's an italian restaurant -- some of the best steaks in New York are seerved here.”
“The staff is friendly and accommodating.”
Poor service towards potential customers. On Oct. 18th around 8:30 pm, the staff of this restaurant was highly discriminatory towards Asian and Asian Americans. Insisted they would not allow Asian to park ~ 25 feet away from the restaurant. Because we would not be the customers. One of staff even insulted us being Asian and I was threatened by his comment. I had to ask the police to intervene. If this is a great restaurant, this incidence should not and should NEVER OCCUR TO ANYONE
RUDE RUDE RUDE. We had reservations for a Saturday night at 8pm. The restaurant was supposed to be open until 10pm. Upon arrival, we were rudely told that the restaurant closed at 8. We explained that we had reservations and apologized that we were around 5 minutes late as our train had been delayed. We were told the “No one was here at 8, so we closed”. The “gentleman” was beyond rude and clearly did not care and wanted to close. I asked if he had contacted us and he snapped back at me and asked “how he was supposed to do that”. I thought if he had planned on closing and knew there was an open reservation, the least he could have done was contact us and say that they were closing early. Yes, we were late, but most restaurants give people a few minutes to arrive. My husband later told me that they said a phone number was not necessary when making a reservation. We have never been treatly so poorly at a restaurant. We dine in all types/levels of restaurants. I didn’t expect the service they we receive at Cipriani, but also didn’t expect the nastiness that we received there. We will never go there again as they clearly do not need or want any business. There are too many other wonderful restaurants to choose from in NY.
Best Italian -- convenient to Bryant Park.
I've been dining here for ten plus years and have NEVER been disappointed -- business lunches and family dinners alike are always great. The food is teriffic with a great selection of daily specials. Prices are reasonable for a midtown Manhattan location. The staff is friendly and accommodating. If you don't see something you like on the menu (not very likely), ask your waiter. The owner (Walter) takes pride in what he has created. Don't be afraid to ask him about some special wines he keeps in stock. If you're in the mood for a steak, don't be afraid to try it here just because it's an italian restaurant -- some of the best steaks in New York are seerved here.
Try it-----------you'll love it!
This restaurant in midtown serves a traditional Italian menu with non-traditional Italian opera..
In Short
Since its opening, this eatery has fed midtown diners craving the delicacies of northern Italy. Patrons seeking pasta feast on the chef's specialty: homemade gnocchi made with fresh pesto. The restaurant also offers a full bar and a range of choices for carnivores including four variations on veal scaloppine. Of course, the menu isn't the only attraction here. On Friday nights, opera singers join a pianist for an evening of Italian arias.
