Great food and friendly restaurant. My first time in Jacks was realy great experience. I was impressed by every thing, food, service, and great atmosphire. I think the outside of the restaurant is not justifying what you can expeience inside. Highly recommended
Impressed.. Excellent quality food!! I really enjoyed myself here. Went with my parents for a nice dinner and that's exactly what we got. The drinks were great. We shared 3 tapas (appetizers) for $24. We shared the shrimp cocktail, chicken satay, and crab cakes. I wanted to try so many more, they all looked excellent. For dinner I decided to keep it vegetarian which I was incredibly surprised they even had something on the menu for that. They had fresh garden vegetables simmered in a thai coconut curry broth with soba noodles. The broth wasn't overwhelming at all, I was a bit hesitant, I eat a lot of thai and they really got it. The service was enough to make me go back for more. :)
Just Horrible. Well we were 9 girls so we made reservations, we got seated right away, funny thing they never asked us if we had reservation the place was so empty. So that was somewhat nice. Our waitress was sooooooooooo rude and had no emotion as we asked her what was her favorite dish. She just didn't want to be there or deal with us. The drinks we ordered was far from stiff and barely had any alcohol. The food came out so fast it was like it was thawed out quickly and sauce was just slapped on. The chicken aughhhhhhhhh sooooooooooo dry!! We will never ever go back. I guess with a large party the waitress knows she is getting gratuity automatically added so she must have thought she can automatically be a b**ch.
Good food - pretty healthy too. Jack's serves great food and you can actually manage to have a meal that feels somewhat healthy there. The service is always friendly, although they do often take a bit longer than I'd like. Really good find in an area strapped for quality affordable restaurants. Not open on the weekend I believe.
STICK TO THE BAR & BAR MENU. This is a relaxed gastro pub and great place to hang out. The wings are truly awesome, and the bartenders are pros - they made martinis & cosmos to die for. After getting happy at the bar, we tried the restaurant and were disappointed: the calamari was odd tasting, with the blue corn batter sliding off in greasy clumps; the chicken satay was cold, dry & tasteless; the potstickers were cold, but the best of the tapas we ordered. My apple pie was disgusting & cold made with what looked like jelllied apple sauce, the tiramisu was average; however, the brownie cake was stellar. Basically STICK TO THE BAR & BAR MENU and you'll leave satisfied.
An oasis in the tourist-trap desert. A peaceful island in the middle of Times Square tourist hell. A cool Irish style bar with an extremely friendly staff, space to sit, and no music to blast you out of your seat. More of an after work bar, the crowd thins out around 9. After that, you'll find a bunch of regulars, an eager staff, and a bit of peace and quiet. The food is nothing to write home about. The calamari is somewhat gritty and otherwise bland. The spicy wings are unique in being spicy, but not greasy. A nice change but not a spectacular one.--Drink Club is a roving group of NYC drinkers.
All food is amazing - have not had anything I did not like.. Definitely worth checking out. I used to eat here often when I worked in the neighborhood. Service is terrific. Atmosphere is nice but not overdone.
GORGEOUS GRUB!. I visited NY in December 2004, and Jack's bar was recommended to us by our hotel. The bar was really great, friendly bar staff (especially Liam) and drink was reasonably priced compared to Time square! Food was delicious!! My sister had the steak and said it was the nicest she had ever tasted! My friends and I got Tapas to share and everything was perfectly cooked and was beautiful!! Can get very busy and noisy on friday nights with the after work crowd, but this just adds to the brilliant atmosphere of Jack's! Highly recommended!!
