Incredible Service – Arno was one of the best restaurants I have experienced! From the moment you walk in the door you are treated like to royalty.
Arno has the best Calamari I have ever had in my life. So fresh and tasty and the sauce it is served with is second to none. Dinner is served promptly and there is never any waiting for someone to fill your water or get you another drink.
Our server was Desi and he was incredible. He made great suggestions for us and we are so glad he did.
The ambiance is very romantic and something you won't soon forget if you dine at Arno!
Cheer's to Arnie!
arno – Arno Restaurant like the Arno River is classically Italian. The ambiance of dark wood and large mirrors reminds you of Tuscany. Interestingly enough Tuscany is famous for its beef and there is very little beef on Arno’s menu.
What Arno does have is someone who knows fish and seafood. Its Calamari was freshly done, fried Calamari that sits becomes greasy and rubbery, and the sauce was nicely piccante, just a little heat. Avoid the Mozzarella and Basil it was very plain Jane.
There are daily specials and we got Bass with a butter, cream and caper sauce that was truly good. Bass is not often found in NYC restaurants, being a inland fresh water fish and when done right is delicious and this was superb.
If you have to die a martyr’s death consider Arno’s desserts as a reasonable reward their white chocolate cake with strawberries is to die for and their ordinary chocolate moose is far from ordinary.
The service is excellent, but the dinner can be pricey at $ 180 for two with tip.

POOR – There are better places in this great country to eat, I expect to come to New York and grab great food. This was not one of those places! The price is a little high on some menu items, Pasta in the 18-20 buck range! The past that was order took no longer then 5 Minutes to arrive at the table at the most. That tells you something that it was not freshly made. The pasta was very rubbery and tasted like it came from a mircowave!! The dessert is on a roller cart that has been sitting out all day, once again sitting out and not cooled. Overall this place is a place I will never will go to again!
THE BEST Veal I have ever had in my life !!!!! – I have dined in some of the best restaurants in the world and this is THE best ! The atmosphere was Romantic if you wanted, Cordial if you wanted, Business if you wanted, but just plain enjoyable which ever way.
The staff was polite, patient, helpful, friendly, and very informative.
We went to a broadway play ( August Old Sage County ) which was the best I've ever seen and then had the pleasure of eating at the overall best restaurant I've ever eaten at.
The Veal was Heaven, the Baked Ravioli was a masterpiece, and the Teramisu was Great !
They also make a top notch coctail !!
We are from Connecticut and my only regret is that I can't go there 2-3 times a month to eat. We definately will be back.
Thank You to the staff for a great evening and COMPLIMENTS TO THE CHEF !!!!!!!!
Good food and service but expensive – I ate here on a weeknight and there were a good number of people but it was by no means crowded. The service was great and many friendly waiters checked on us frequently. The food was also good (we had seafood and pasta), but it was about what I expected for the price (about $30 for an entree). The menu was varied and they had a number of specials. The house wine was also very good quality for the money. While nothing went wrong at all with the experience, I gave this 4 stars rather than 5 simply because I've had comparable food for less money. I'd go back on a special occasion but probably not for everyday dinners.
Very Good Italian in the heart of Manhattan – I've been to Arno a few times and it's always delicious and dependable. I've been with co-workers for business lunches, I've been to dinner there before a Broadway show and I've even just had a couple drinks in the bar after work. The service is attentive, the drinks very good and particularly the Italian food is superb. Great midtown location also.
Mob Mystery Dinner - a tourist trap – If you are up for bad acting, and a poor meal, this is the show for you.
The idea is great. A show and dinner but the whole thing fails to deliver anything but boredom.
To start, the show is poorly written. The actors give it their all and make the best out of a bad script but the show drags on.
Then in addition, the food is terrible. You get lots of bread to fill you up while you wait. For the main, you have one choice of chicken parm and penne vodka. If you are vegetarian, they take the chicken out and you get a plate of pasta. They throw in dessert! It is a plate of stale cookies thrown on the table.
I could have bought myself a better meal at the corner pizza place.
You can add to the misery if you sit close to the aisle or corner where an actor with the objective to involve the crowd will come around every 5 mins and whisper a 'funny' comment in your ear. After the fifth time, you start feeling bad for the guy and you hate him for interrupting you while you are trying to understand what is going on with the show.
If you want a show and a meal, do those two separately. There is a reason why they have not started serving dinner at Wicked.
You won't strike out – My date and I went to Arno Ristorante for a Friday 6PM dinner just before heading over the the Nederlander Theatre on W41st (easy walking distance) to see Rent at 8PM for $20 a ticket (they have a 5:30 lottery). Bottom line: total $155.00 dinner for two with one $45 bottle of wine, shared dessert (either very romantic or very cheap, not on the table for the first date), and a very entertaining Croatian waiter who was attentive but not overly so. The host and his captains were very solicitous on the way in, took our coats personally. We sat toward the front, away from the door, at a table for two across from the mirrors, which was great because you get two angles on your date. The ambient sound level was comfortable, you can have a private conversation easily without raising your voice over the table. There were some family groups (actually a good family destination), but they were all unobtrusive. You could easily go to $300 with a more memorable bottle of wine. The lighting was just right for gazing into eyes without being distracted by too much detail. So much for the ambiance, it's very good.
As for the food, the first thing you should know is I believe that Arno Ristorante uses real virgin olive oil, as opposed to a common substitute, because the Insalata Di Cesare was really exceptional, as well as Broccoli florets, which we specifically ordered sauteed in virgin olive oil and garlic. As for my main course, Rigatoni Amatriciana, I've had better at Papa Razzi (the one in Cambridge, MA). My date had Pollo Castelli, but she didn't rave about it. We were also pleasantly surprised by the desserts, which came over on a large cart and are sliced it at the table, which I thought was a nice touch.
On my romantic scale (0-12) it's a solid 8. You won't slug a home run, but you won't strike out either. The bar is really impressive if you have to wait (we didn't). Easy walking distance to all the Times Square theatres, as well as to Penn Station.
Great fun atmosphere! – I took my sister to this restauarnt for a play performance. The building and decor is lovely and we had a wonderful time. The food was good and the price was right. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
Good fare in the West 30's – This is probably the best Italian restaurant in the neighborhood. Nice ambiance. Very good service without being obtrusive. The food is prepared well, though the portions could be a bit more generous.
